Office Hours - Abnormal Psychology

Jenny is sitting in a bare office, and is typing happily away on her laptop, updating herself on all the new computer technology she's been missing out on.

"I don't think I can blame you, I've had my fair share after zombie weekend."

"Zombies?" Jenny wrinkles her nose in disgust. "Ew. You guys have zombies here? Gotta stock up on the salt and moly."

"There was an invasion, hundreds of them. Maybe thousands. The whole town was smelling for at least a week after. They're all gone now, though, except for the band at Caritas. Salt and moly works against them?"

"There's a zombie band?" asks Jenny disbelievingly. "Wow. Are they any good?" Maybe she doesn't want to know.

"Yeah, throw a mixture of salt and moly in the eyes and mouth of a zombie, and they go back to being all the way dead." Jenny shrugs, holding both hands clasped around her coffee mug. "Of course, first you have to get close enough to them, which is a little risky. How'd you guys take care of the problem without everyone's brains getting gobbled up?"

"I was too busy bellowing to notice, it's karaoke." Cameron grins.

"Everyone stuck together, people took up the weapons they're familiar with and they defended the school. One of the students apparently flooded them with hot water, I think. I kinda missed all that action as I went with coach Ash who found the source of it all and destroyed that."

"There's a zombie karaoke bar?" asks Jenny. "This I have to see."

"Wow. I'm used to most of the students being oblivious to otherworldly events." Jenny grins. "Sounds like they're an everyday occurrence around here."

"I don't think the owner is a zombie, though. He's green and he's got red horns."

He scratches the back of his head and grins. "Yeah, I suppose it is. I've seen some weird things since I came here. What worries me is that I'm starting to get used to it."

"So he's a--demon?" guesses Jenny. She'd heard not all of them were evil, but living on the Hellmouth, that was mostly what she'd seen. "Okay, I really have got to go to this place."

"So why's that worry you?" asks Jenny, setting her coffee cup down on the desk and leaning back in her chair again. "The world's a pretty weird place. Wouldn't you rather know about the weirdness than not?"

"Yeah, I suppose." Cameron agrees. "I just get the feeling that if I told my parents half of what goes on here, they'll think I'm crazy. Or they'd get my ass out of here."

"And you don't want to go?" asks Jenny. "So why did your parents send you here, anyway? I mean, 'multidimensional high school' just doesn't give off normal vibes in the first place, you know?"

"I like it here, I like the people I've met. I don't think they really realised what it meant," Cameron looks sheepish. "It was my idea to come here, I was hoping it'd give me good experience for when I join the Air Force."

"Maybe they just thought 'multidimensional' meant you'd get a well-rounded education," says Jenny. "So why the Air Force?"

"Maybe," Cameron smiles at her question, but he's not as enthusiastic as he usually is when it comes up. "F-16s, it's the only place I know where you can fly them."

"Now, see, the armed forces and I? Would really not get along." Jenny grins at him. "That whole thing with taking orders? Ick. On the other hand, I'm not the one talking about joining up. So what got you interested in flying?"

"Peter Pan?" He shrugs. "I don't think it's one thing, it's just the idea of flying, you know? The speed that those planes can reach, just..." he gestures with his hands, not sure how to put it into words, but his face is lighting up as he talks. "I guess it's a sense of freedom."

Jenny's loving listening to this kid. He knows what he wants, which is more than a lot of kids his age. And how can she not identify with wanting a sense of freedom? "So I guess it's the Air Force Academy for you, then?"

"So, you mind giving me a run-down on the kids in the class?"

"Yups," Cameron says with a smile and considers her request. "I could for as far as I know them, I've only taught one class to them and not everyone was as active in it as they should have been."

"Oh?" asks Jenny. "So what happened during the class?"

"I picked a rather interesting subject for the day," Cameron smirks, looking rather proud of it. "I thought it would be fun to let everyone wind down while she was gone so I asked them to try to come up with any mental illnesses they thought Drusilla is suffering from. Most seemed to agree that 'batshit crazy' was the best term, although I stepped on some toes too."

Jenny sputters with laughter. "Oh, you didn't!" she exclaims. "That's beautiful! What, you had students that actually had problems with that?"

"Yes, I hadn't really expected it as I thought everyone was pretty much in agreement that Drusilla's lost a few marbles." He considers it for a moment, trying to recollect the objections in class. "Faith seemed to t hink that maybe she wasn't that crazy, but she didn't get into it much as apparently they have a background. I was more surprised by Crane. He's either the world's biggest suck up or he really thinks that Drusilla is the best thing since bread came sliced."

"I'm not sure what to think of Medusa's response. At first she wanted to discuss why I would think Drusilla's crazy in the first place. When I just asked her to do the assignment, she asked to be allowed an alternative one to prove that Drusilla isn't crazy." He laughs a bit, clearly not happy with that particular development. "Which she didn't make, and ran off to Drusilla about to ask for a special project instead."

"Faith Lehane, right?" asks Jenny. "Don't know her. Is she from Sunnydale? But--"

She glances at the course roster on her laptop. "Jonathan Crane and Medsua St. Clair really like her? Well, that doesn't sound like a good one. And Medusa's missing some homework?"

"Uh, I don't know. I've never really talked to her before. I just know she's from the JA. As are Crane and Medusa forthat matter, Malfoy too."

He shrugs. "I guess she is, but as you mentioned that clean slate thing in the email, I didn't think it mattered."

"Clean slate on attendance and participation, anyway," says Jenny. "I've got the old homework notes and I'm going to be going over them this weekend. Should be interesting to see who's missing assignments. Even if Medusa talked to Drusilla about a special project, well, I have no records on that."

"The JA?" Jenny frowns, confused. "What's that?"

Cameron nods in understand. "I'm afraid I don't know anything about those either."

"The JA, I'm not sure what it stands for. Junior Archievers or something?" Cameron frowns. "Angelus started it up, they're a club and I have no clue what exactly it is that they do. Just judging from Angel's reaction, I don't think they're up to much good."
