Criminology - Dec 1

Grissom takes a seat and sneezes.

"No lecture today, because someone on the staff who shall remain nameless decided to swap her flu-ridden spit with me while I'm immunocompromised instead we will watch selections from A Huey P. Newton Story."

Discussion: React to these statements.

Your homework: YOUR FINAL PROJECT. I'd like you to interview anyone currently or previously involved in law enforcement or criminal justice, and now resides in Fandom. You may choose the questions you'd like to ask them, and the number of questions, although I expect at least three. Explore what has most interested you in the class thusfar. This will be due on the last day of class. If you have any problems with this assignment, please speak to me and I will be able to help you.

Chloe sits quietly feeling glad for a moment that she hasn't been swapping spit with anyone and watches the video.

"I think there's something really, really wrong with the way he tries to justify being violent. Existence isn't violent. Not everyone who lives in this world is violent - not that you'd know that from some of the students around here, I suppose - but still, such a broad generalization about humanity is insane. People aren't violent just because they exist, and it seems like such a poor way for this man to try to justify himself."

"It's interesting," Angela says. "I mean, violence is never a good answer, but I can understand why in certain situations it might seem like the only choice. The gumbo thing sounds like he's basically saying things sometimes have to be bad and confusing for them to get better. I don't know if I agree."

"Also, Dr. Grissom? DO you have a list of interview subjects we could choose from, or do we need to generate that on our own?"

"A lot of those would be good for me," Angela says. "Thanks."

See if I ever swap spit with you again. *Fortunately, it is a minor, mun induced bug that will go quickly and be gone by tomorrow.*

[Something tells me offering him veggie noodle soup would not go over well. :P]

Maia listened to the Final Project....she thought about who she should ask, she decided on Tonks.

"I think his statement about only seeing white people at a black panther rally is crap, did he ever stop to think that the white people at the rally were there because they wanted to help the movement. I think if I were a member of the black panther organization I would gag that guy and forbid him to ever speak out publicly again with the organizations name attached to it. He came off sounding like a total idiot."

"He's obviously an angry person and that bleeds through most of these statements. Also, he's cockily angry. And that's not always a bad thing but speaking like he does, being cocky and angry might get him in trouble someday. But, I did like his critque of his party's tactics. I like that he sees that they did some things wrong and some things hurt them more then helped them."

Cameron takes a seat. He's going to do his best to not get distracted for this class. Sadly enough, he chewed up the animal translator after psych class.
