Into the Black Meeting [Early evening]

Anakin opened up the door to the Flight Club shed and waited for the rest of the club members to arrive.

He turned to them and said, "Hope you all had a good time over the holidays. I've put in a call to Fly By Night in town to see if the owner'd be interested in getting us some time up in some real Earth airplanes. With that in mind, I've changed the simulator to fly like a Cessna 172, a typical aircraft on this world. It's very easy and user friendly."

He yanked at his braid. "If you'd like to fly the real thing, please put your name down on the list and I'll get back to you as soon as they get back to me about the number of students he can take at any one time."

He clasped his hands together. "That's all I've got today. Have fun. Try not to break anything."

"Consider it reconnaissance for the Angel situation," she says quietly. "I never thought you'd be one of the people to try to desoul him again, but I'd like to know where you do stand on this."

Anakin's eyes went hard. "Not a chance," he spat. "I haven't met his latest incarnation because I'm not sure I trust my reaction to seeing him again." His hands clenched. "I don't like feeling out of control, and after what he did--whatever name he's going by--it's hard for me to be all Jedi calm about it."

"I completely understand, and I'm not asking you to do anything for him," Aeryn says quickly. "Technically speaking I never met Angelus, but after dealing with some of the people that did, I can't say I wouldn't have the same reaction. I just want to make sure I never do meet Angelus."

Anakin took a couple of deep breaths. "I'm sure the line is quite long already, but believe me when I say that Angelus wouldn't be long for this world if he should ever return and I ran into him." He scowled, thinking back to his conversation with Rory in Criminal Justice earlier in the day. "Some things are unforgivable."

Aeryn nods, remembering Logan's visit. Some things really were. "If he ever comes back, he won't last long enough for anyone to run into him," she says. "There's some concern about a few members of the JA who might be planning on making it a reality, though. You don't have to do anything if you're uncomfortable with it, but if you hear anything about that, would you let me know?"

Anakin nodded. "The only one that seems that broken up about Angelus being gone is Belthazor and he's decided that he doesn't want to be a part of Junior Achievers any more." Anakin made a sarcastic sound of regret. "Damn."

He yanked at his braid. "Not sure the others would tell me if they were up to anything, but I'll keep my ears open."

The news about Bel is definitely new, and Aeryn will remember that. "Thank you," she says. "I'm sorry I had to bring this up, but I'm trying to be as prepared as I can be."

Anakin stared at his boots. "Preparation is good," he said. "My old teacher taught me that you can never be too prepared." He grimaced. "Wish I'd listened to him about Angelus."

"It's easy in hindsight. Until the day they announced him as Kitty's killer, I was defending him myself," she admits. "We know now, and we don't let it happen again."

"We don't," he said, his tone firm. "So count me in on whatever help I could possibly provide."

"Thank you," she says gratefully, and with a tight smile, heads back to the meeting.
