Criminal Justice Class 22

Rory sat at Tick's desk, nervously eyeing the students and occasionally fiddling with the collar of her turtleneck. She looked exceptionally tired.

"Um, okay. Professor Tick's not here, so I'm your sub. Please sign in here," she said, pointing to a clipboard on the desk.

She stood and walked out in front of the desk, wringing her hands. "Last time you met, I know you talked about redemption and reform. Neither of those can happen without forgiveness."

She faced the students, and looked at them each in turn.

"What is the evidence that you require to forgive someone? What do they need to do to prove that they're worthy? And moreover, since one person's acceptance of an apology can be seen as completely fair and just, while another feels that the perpetrator deserves a larger punishment, how does the idea of forgiveness fit into society and most especially, the judical system? If the law enforcement officials choose to forgive a person of their wrongdoings, are others expected to follow suit? And what if they don't?"

"Discuss. Oh, and your extra credit is: bring me either surfboard wax, or a book you think I've never read. If I have? No extra credit. Surfboard wax is probably easier."

[ooc: Several things - first off, I apologize that this is posted so much later than you're used to seeing. Secondly, still not getting email notifications, so I might be slow replying. And third - I did find a list online of every book Rory's been mentioned reading in canon. I shan't simply make things up.]

Janet raises one eyebrow. The dog seems oddly familiar.

"Are you a student?" she asks.

After watching Zero turn into a cat in front of her, not to mention Logan-that-was-a-bunny, Sark, Barbossa, and now Beka-the-hamster, as well as Gandalf-the-Special-Collections-newt, she was starting to get a sense for these things. Also, it was just looking like a pretty good bet that unfamiliar on-campus animals were transmogrified students.

Cameron barks once in agreement. His tail starts wagging as it annoyingly does on its own when he's happy about something.

She looks around to see who else is there. "Aeryn? Jaye? Harkness? Anakin? Marty? Cameron?"

She figures he'll bark when he gets to his name.

Cameron barks at the last name. His tail is getting distracting again and he tries to get it to stop wagging. The next minute is spent chasing his own tail.

Janet starts laughing. "Come here, Cameron," she says to Cameron, holding her hand out for him to smell.

Content with his sniffing job, Cameron looks at Rory. He barks twice, waits, barks twice again, waits and barks twice again.

Lockheed can't help but snicker at Cameron from atop his bookshelf.

Cameron scowls, and to think he would have brought him chocolate cake.

He needs to get a sign or something about not scratching his ear. Cameron automatically tilts his head into Rory's hand.

Cameron scowls, he's not finding this funny at all. As he moves closer, for some reason he does start sniffling her hand. He wonders if this is another canine thing.

"You know you're too adorable for words, right?" asks Janet. Once she's sure he's satisfied she starts scratching behind his ears.

Cameron would argue or maybe growl at being called adorable. He really would, but she's scratching behind his ear and there's no arguing with that.
