Language Classes, 11/28

"Hello. I hope you all enjoyed your break.

Classics: We are moving onto verbs in our study of Ancient Greek. The passive verb, the topic of this lesson, is used when the subject of the verb is being acted upon, rather than acting. [Dream continues to lecture on this topic for the remainder of class, ending by giving the students several sentences to translate.]

Languages of Asia: We will continue our work in basic Japanese with a review of Japanese phrases one might use on the telephone. [Dream discusses Japanese telephone vocabulary and manners for several minutes.]

Pair up and hold mock conversations using these words and the other vocabulary you have learned."

Janet signes in and translates the Greek sentences almost perfectly. She's been studying this language extra-hard.

Sam slid into a seat next to Janet and listened attentively to the lecture, taking lots of notes. Greek made sense to her in a way Hebrew hadn't--maybe because she had memories of Daniel going on and on (and on) about it.

It was probably a good thing--she figured Jack would need help catching up.

Anders signs in and pays attention to the lecture, taking copious if half-illegible notes. The concept of passive verbs is confusing him a little bit, but he keeps plugging away determinedly at the translation assignment, his tongue sticking out between his teeth.

Logan almost listens to the lecture, and translates decently.

Rory listens attentively to the lecture, though she sneaks a suspicious look around at her fellow students (especially Draco) every now and again.

Rogue bites the end of her pencil as she works on the translation. All the letters kind of swim together in a haze of lines and curves, but she manages to get about 80% of the words correct.

Sonia listens as attentively as possibly, though her brain feels like it's still in Wallachia. The passive verbs are a bit confusing at first, but she manages the translations with little trouble.

Evie listens carefully, though she's visibly upset. She translates the Greek easily, but with a few mistakes.

Thomasina signs her name to class roster, then takes her seat and listens carefully to the lecture on verbs.
