Introduction
Roy Mustang shuffles through the school entrance, carrying a satchel of books and a sleepy expression. His bangs hang somewhat over his eyes because he's too lazy to style his hair back properly. He'd also like to think that it makes him a little dashing... but mostly it's just lazyness. Effort is saved for learning, not keeping up appearences.
Roy keeps looking down at a small piece of crumpled paper in his hand, then looking around. His clothes are clean but just slightly rumpled, and traces of white chalk still cling to his fingertips. He notices this as he glances down, and wipes his fingers on his trousers with a grimace. It just makes an even worse smear. He sighs.
"Well, this is the right address... Just got to find where to register for the local science club." He looks down at the note again, muttering. "And a chess club, and a chemistry club, and a meteorology/geology club if they have one of those too..."
He starts to tick items off on his fingers, muttering to himself. "And I need lab partners for geology, and physics..."
((OOC: for the purpose of this RP, Roy is pre-canon for FMA, from approximately the year 1900. So he doesn't know Edward Elric yet, or the Rockbell family, or anything. But if someone RPs Hughes, Gracia, or Hawkeye he might know them. I wrote a more detailed explanation of his pre-canonness (age, education, etc) at the info page here.
Also, I'd like to ask where in canon the other FMA players are from so that I can interact with you guys accordingly.))

Oh...damn... I'd forgotten that lab partners share notes. Since last year I've begun writing all my notes in a personal code.
Hm. Well, I'm certainly not going to teach you to read my notation code, so I suppose I can take lab notes in standard English.
Holovariations? ... light-based chess? That's absurd. Show me.

Come on back to the Falcon, and we'll fire up the holoboard.
See, in space, the ship can move suddenly or you can get shot at or something can interrupt the game. So, we play with holographic projections instead of real pieces. The board can save if we get called away. And even if I have to make a fast jump or some fancy flying, the pieces stay put.
And don't mind the wook. He's pretty harmless. Unless you win.

"Right, right. I forgot-- this is remarkable similar to the computer devices I keep seeing around here. This world has fascinating devices. I always take notes by hand, because it helps me remember it later. But we could transfer our notes to this read-out for assignments and reports. I assume this works mostly like a typewriter?"
He pauses and looks up from the readout, back to his new lab partner. "Space... you have a rocket ship?"

Naw, we got past rockets millennia ago. The Falcon has a basic dual drive system. The gravitic drive provides enough thrust to get out the planetary gravity well and the hyperdrive puts the ship into a quantum state so it can cross interplanetary distances.
Right now, she only does 2 factors past lightspeed. My girl's just a freighter. But soon as I get some know-how? (and some parts) She's gonna soar! Right now the limit is pretty much .475. I want her to do .5.
They're your arms, pal. Be nice to Chewie and he might let them stay attached. ::evil smirk::
