"Apparently so," John says. "But I don't know for sure or anything. Just from whispering and the radio and the announcements. I mean, Bristow made the announcement barring people from hurting him for some reason."

"Well, that's good. Nobody should get funny ideas about hurting him just cause of the rumours, then." Cally nods. "So... enough about that. How's stuff with Aeryn?"

"Oh, par for the course." John tries to smile and fails. "We argue, we don't argue, we argue. Depends on the day. We really do love each other. Honest."

"You need to hug her more." Cally nods. "Hugging makes everything better."

John laughs a little. "Hugging's not really an Aeryn thing. Have you tried hugging her?"
