Journalism Class Homework - Due 12/16/05
Each journalism student, saving only our photo journalist, needs to select one other student from the school population. Your subject must be another student and they must be someone you know only casually. It would be better if they were a complete stranger. No friends, roommates or significant others may be chosen for this project.
Once you have chosen your subject, you will need to approach them and arrange for an interview and, this is the important part, permission to accompany them home for an hour or so (preferably with your photojournalist also at hand). Coffee, lunch, a fast space battle... whatever appeals to you both. Please apply to me for the appropriate permissions to leave campus, as this is a sanctioned school activity.
I want to see a 400 word article on your chosen subject as a well-rounded person - not as a student at Fandom High. I also will require the text of the interview. Choosing someone who has already been featured in any public interview or student newspaper article is frowned upon. I want to see fresh material, please.
Each article must be accompanied by two photographs. One needs to be a standarized head shot, and our Photojournalist will be responsible for those. It is permissable for her to set either appointments or put aside a day wherein she will be available to take those photographs. It will be your responsibility to see to it that the subject shows up. The second photograph needs to be of something significant to the subject and the article (hence it being a good idea to ask the photojournalist to accompany you on your field trip - if she cannot fit you into her schedule, other arrangements can be made through me).
By 11/28/05, I want to see a comment here with the name of your subject, the date of your trip/interview and an assurance that either our photojournalist can accompany you or notice that you need an alternate method of photography.
By 12/16/05, I want a copy of your interview, the resultant 400 word article (and that's an exact word count) and the two required photographs on my desk. Late work will not be accepted without a notice before the deadline and a really, really good excuse. You have a month to get this done. Extensions should not be required and will not be granted.

{ooc - to save D'anna's sanity, it'll likely be preplayed in a locked post before then, and just go public on that day.}

HOMEWORK 12 16 05
A recorded copy of his interview with Duo Maxwell. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/whitedeathpod/29124.html)
Two pictures: A mobile suit; a weapon used by Duo and his fellow rebels (http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/6496/gundamwing8dj.jpg) taken with this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000189LJC/sr=1-162/qid=1133633540/ref=sr_1_162/103-6020540-9068659?%5Fencoding=UTF8) camera.
A polaroid of Duo (http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3290/duo9lo5fu.jpg) taken with this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001MB7S6/qid=1134769882/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-2329768-6006251?n=507846&s=electronics&v=glance) camera.
And his 400 word report:
I respect Duo Maxwell. After getting a chance to interview him, I both respect, admire and am in awe of Duo Maxwell.
Duo hails from the L2 Space Colony, something similar to the cities we find on Earth. He comes from the poor section of the space colony and says that the conditions weren’t too good and people were just living on top of each other. His attitude though, is one of profound optimism. During Duo’s time on the L2 Space Colony, he witnessed things that teenagers on Earth only saw on movies. He fought in war, using his mobile suit Deathscythe, a very advanced piece of machinery that requires a pilot. Thinks Transformers of American cartoon legend and think of them with a pilot. Duo rode Deathscythe into the war against the Earth Alliance for the Rebels. The Rebels wanted peace. The Earth Alliance wanted power. For his part in the war, Duo was imprisoned and was slated for execution before escaping.
If anyone’s seen or talked to Duo, you know that he enjoys the repair and examination of machinery. I’m sure most of Fandom High remembers Mr. Canute Mimir Fluffypants. Despite Mr. Fluffypants stealing a great many things, you cannot deny the fact that mechanizing a stuffed animal from scratch is quite an accomplishment.
Despite being from another place and time all together, Duo and his roommate, Hamlet Dane, do get along. Duo’s quite the talker, Hamlet’s the silent one and despite that, the two have bonded while staying on the sixth floor. Duo speaks highly of Hamlet, calling him a ‘man with a mission.’ Duo being Duo, enjoys messing around with Hamlet. Hey, who doesn’t?
Duo enjoyed Advanced Negotiations during it’s time here at Fandom High because, during the war on his world, democracy was a foreign concept and he and his people didn’t get a say at all. Duo also enjoyed history and really hopes that there’s an American history course offered as he wants to learn about American history and the resources that were available on his world were not up to par. He also has plans to take Shop class next semester.
Duo is an amazing individual. He’s been through so much in such a short time and he’s still upbeat, happy, and friendly. His stories are grand and epic. He wants to tell you about his life and you can’t help but listen.
