Flight Club [Tuesday, early evening]

Even after a workout in the gym, Anakin was still in a bit of a Mood.

He didn't slam open the door to the Flight Club shed, but it's a near thing.

He took a deep breath, fired up the sim--still set with up with the Jedi Starfighter programming--and waited for the rest of the club to arrive.

"With the new regulations about off-campus travel, and my trip home this weekend, I didn't have a chance to talk with the Dean about how that might effect our work with actual flying. I'll get to that this week. I apologize for not doing so earlier."

He gestured at the flight sim. "You have been making some pretty great strides towards learning the way that the Starfighter flies. I've increased the difficulty of the programs tonight and included a few more combat runs." He rubbed his hands together. "One's so new I haven't even gotten a chance to try it."

Anakin cleared his throat. "Have fun, blow off a little steam. But as always, break the sim and we'll have to have a bit of a discussion."

Lee tightens his jaw as he gets into the flight sim and flicks the switches to fly. "Gods, I need this," he mutters under his breath as the sim flares up into life.

Cally, doing her usual sim-running duties, raises an eyebrow as Lee gets into the sim.

"Hey. Just trying the flight, or do you want me to boot up one of the combat situationy-thingies?" She smiles, hoping her cheerfulness might lighten Lee's mood.

Lee smiles at Cally as it's hard not to, even when feeling more emo than usual. "Hey, Cally. I'd love to shoot the frak out of anything this baby's got," he says.

"One order of stuff to shoot the frak out of, coming right up." She says with a wink, and goes about activating the easiest of the combat sims Anakin has programmed in. Not that she doesn't think could handle worse, she just wants him to have a good time and not get more frustrated, that's all.

Lee picks up the console and figures out pretty quickly how the thing flies and shoots. He's biting his lip tightly as he finishes the first round. "Something a bit more challenging next time, Cally?" he asks, breathing normally but eyes on fire.

"You want harder, we got harder." She amps up the difficulty on the scenario, pressing the buttons as she's been instructed.

"There. Should be up to a level to match your mad pilot skillz, Lee." She laughs.

"Thanks, Cally," he says gratefully and flares up this second program. In under a minute, he's sweating, a maniacal grin on his face as he zooms through artificial space, destroying a rather irritatingly difficult-to-kill foe. "Frak!" he squeals when he's cornered into an astroid and blows up. Shaking his head, he pulls out of the sim and smiles at Cally. "That's a good one. Real good." He looks a bit dazed.

"Thanks, Skywalker," Lee says teasingly and follows up in a more serious tone, "Glad you think so --- I'd love to spend a couple of hours in that sim. I miss flying out there in the black."

Cally coughs. "Erm, I've actually been, erm, meaning to tell you something, Lee. Kinda got busy and forgot..."

*has been playing Mr. Mechanic for a few weeks and misses flying, so he waits for an easy run on the sim with a big grin*

Anakin, man! How's it goin'? *grins* Sign me up for some serious crash course, I'm in the mood for some nice, relaxing maneuvering!

Thanks, man! Uhm...*scratches his head* I think it'd be best for nobody to be shootin' at me, just now. *grins* I don't wanna see my fightin' buddy Shinigami at the moment, so straight flyin's good for me! *laughs*

*grins widely* Better'n bein' scrapped off the bottom of someone else's ship! *laughs and jumps in* Thanks, man!

Fidgetting a bit, Cameron waits for his turn in the sim.

"Yeah," Cameron straightens up, making up his mind. Fall off the bike and get back on. He needed to kick this thing. "Can you make it a combat sim?"

In for a penny... "Land."

Cameron nodded and took a deep breath as he watched the simulator. Right, moving would be a good.

"Thanks," he said, giving Anakin an absent smile before crawling into the sim.

The door closed behind him and as soon as he was seated, the sim started. No ice fields, he felt grateful for that. He forced himself to focus on just flying the plane and getting used to the way it responded, ignoring the fact that his hands were unsteady. It didn't take long for the first bandit to come into view and he only narrowly dodged the fire.

"Focus, Mitchell." He whispered to himself. No ice, no Banks. Just you and a sim. As he concentrated on his target, he started to forget about anything else. His nerves being replaced by the adrenaline push and soon it was just him, the plane and the targets.

No crashing. The combat was fairly easy, but it didn't matter. When the sim opened again, he felt that much lighter and he was grinning.
