Professor Chaucer, Office Hours

On the off chance that there are still people around who actually want to speak to Professor Chaucer, he can be found holding office hours before and after class today.

"The counselor at the clinic is...well someone I can't talk to, I have an appointment later in town but to be honest I'd really rather not go back into town today"

She rests her head against her hand, "I'm getting my magic bound so it can't be used to hurt anyone again, if I don't have my powers then I can't cause so much damage, whether I mean to or not" she tells him through her tears, "I'd just worked out what I had to make amends to everyone and then Deb puts a sign outside her diner saying she's ill because of me and everyone'll believe it cos everyone believes I'm bad. I only went there to apologise. I give up Geoff, I.just.give.up!"

Geoff sighs. "Paige, I'm sorry that you've had a feud with Deb. But I'm sure you agree that everyone has a right to be angry if they've been upset by someone. I don't know the situation there, and honestly I don't think I should become involved." He moves away and sits back down in his chair.

"I think...that I'm the worst person to give you advice right now, Paige. I can't be unbiased, and that's what you need. Someone who can look at all sides and not have a reason to want to support one over the other. Forget about whatever happened at Deb's, get some rest, and find someone to talk to who can help you. If you feel that binding your powers is best...that's your decision. I don't know nearly enough about magic to even understand what it would entail. But please, believe me -- my decision to not have you heal me has nothing to do with you personally. I just...am very uncomfortable with a lot of things right now."

"I understand her hating me, but making it public like that is just unnecessary. And I wasn't asking for advise, I just wanted to tell you why I couldn't make it into class today and I'm not even asking you take sides I just...I can't win, whatever I do it's wrong. Maybe when my magic's bound people will be more forgiving, but I doubt it!"

"Paige!" It's the sternest voice Geoff has probably ever used in her earshot. "I know you're upset, so I'm going to let it slide, but you need to realize something. I've been as supportive of you as a person can be through all of this. You came here upset, I tried to help you as best I'm able. I apologize if the help was unwelcome. And I have also been as forgiving as I possibly can be. You cannot expect people to simply turn off their emotions and forget the things that upset them. If you want people to forgive you, you're going to have to meet them halfway. And that means working for their forgiveness, if it's important to you, rather than demanding it."

"I am working for it, I know people won't just say oh okay that's fine we'll forget what happened, but if people won't even let me try..."

She shakes her head "I know you've been forgiving, this isn't about you, I'm sorry if I've made you think any of this is your fault or that I blame you for anything you've said. I appreciate everything you've done. I'm sorry."

"If their forgiveness is important to you, Paige, I know you'll keep trying. Start with Deb. She's obviously angry. Try approaching her in some other way -- write to, maybe. But give her time to cool off. We both know that people can do things when they're angry that they might not do otherwise." He gives her a sympathetic smile.

"Now...go get some rest. And please consider what I said about finding someone to talk to, all right?"

"thank you" she sighs "I really am sorry Geoff and I'm already seeing someone, so you don't have to worry on that score. Hopefully I'll be okay for class tomorrow. I'll ask someone to pass on the homework."

He nods. "That's a good idea, Paige. I'm sure someone in class will be willing to share their lecture notes. If you can't find anyone, tell me tomorrow and I'll write it down for you."

She nods slowly, the only person she could think was really was Sawyer and she was damned if she was gonna ask him.

"Thank you Geoff, I'm sorry for being such a pain."

"It's all fine, Paige. Don't worry."

She forces a smile, "yeah but I do." she tells him before heading back to the attic where she actually let her frustrations and hurt out
