The same juice and pastries that greeted Dream's Monday class are there today, though he seems somewhat less cheerful.

"Hello.

Languages of Europe: We're going to learn the French alphabet and numbers one through 20 today. Also, I have gathered that several of you have studied French before; if this is true for you, please note it when you sign in so I may gear my lessons accordingly.

Cat class: Grooming rituals are an important part of being a cat. From the earliest bonding with the mother, to the postures and techniques used in bathing as an adult, it remains a preoccupation. I will be transforming with you today to demonstrate the symbolism of different fur-cleansing techniques.

Finally, actingltcrumpet and julianlawless did not complete their midterms and will receive detentions."

Archie signs in and sits in the back of the room, going over the assignment. His spoken French is still accented much more like Spanish.

Dream approaches Archie at his desk.

"Mr. Kennedy. Are you feeling better, now?"

Archie can't quite suppress an involuntary start as Dream approaches him. "Yes, sir," he replies haltingly. "I am, thank you, though I fear I'm woefully behind in all my classwork. Would you please allow me to make up the midterm assignment -- not to get out of detention, but in order to help me catch up again?"

"You have to make up the midterm in any case," Dream says. "Stop by my office tomorrow and we will discuss the whole of your makeup work."

Dream appraises her with cool not-eyes.

"Vous avez raison," he says, shortly. "Mais .... c'est aussi une belle ville, non?"

She breaks from speaking French, "Truth, like light, blinds. Falsehood, on the contrary, is a beautiful twilight that enhances every object."

"Camus," Dream says, also speaking in English again. "We may read him in Advanced Languages of Europe next semester."

He places one cool hand on Lisa's shoulder, saying nothing, in a clumsy gesture of comfort. After leaving it there for a moment, he moves on.
