Study Hall, 11/14

Dream has thrown on the doors to study hall and is sitting at a table near the front, paging through a book.

As part of his quest to cut down on the caffeine consumption at the school, he's put a range of juices, bottled water, and caffeine-free sodas throughout the room.

"Hey Duo!" John nudges the toaster again. "Piece of junk likes to burn everything I try to toast. I was gonna junk it but thought I'd see if ABC could work their magic."

Hey man! *nods at the toaster* Looks pretty dead, but I'm sure those guys can fix it! *grins* If not, you can always use it for spare parts! *thinks* Maybe get enough broken toasters, and you could make one that would, I dunno, roast a turkey or somethin'! *laughs*

John laughs. "Toasters roasting chickens? That would be handy. I bet all the parts and heating elements could have enough power to cook a turkey."

"Oh, speaking of mechanics, I told Bridge the other day that I finished the erector rocket ship. Ready for you guys to make some kind of engine whenever you've got the time."

*grins* Exactly! You never know when that might be really useful!

Hey, yeah! Bridge told me you finished that thing, we're figurin' out when we can set about makin' it ready to take to the skies. *laughs* I still can't believe they make toys like that! *scratches his head* I guess they prolly have stuff like that where I come from, but I was too busy workin' on the real thing! *grins*

"Yeah, Earth's got some pretty badass toys once you get past the crappy stuff. Erector sets have been around a long time, actually," John says. "And man, I would've loved to get my hands on the real thing, a real rocket ship to work on. How cool. You worked on ships and stuff?"

Huh. Is it an American thing? They tell me I'm American so I used to like lookin' up American history and stuff, but there's only so many vid cards and book disks you can, uh, borrow; especially when half of them are crappy! *laughs*

*nods and grins* Yeah, I stole a Mobile Suit when I was 7 or so, so I was flyin' that thing around for a bit, then did odd mechanical work and stuff until I ended up with the Sweepers when I was 12. They were a salvage group around that time and I worked with them. *thinks* Come to think of it, their head Professor G was prolly preppin' me for Operation Meteor right from the beginnin' by lettin' me do the same work as all the adults! *shakes his head* That freak. *laughs* Oh well, not that I mind all that much! Bein' an anti-OZ terrorist has some perks!!

John listens to Duo with wide eyes. "That's...wow. When I was that age, I was playing with toy cars and getting dirty. How're you adjusting to the mechanical things here? Like toasters and other things. I mean, not too many big ships around here to fix. Do you get bored?"

[identity profile] 02maxwell.livejournal.com 2005-11-14 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* Mechanical stuff here is great! There's tons of little things that for me is ancient Earth relics! *laughs* Big ships an' stuff are really just a whole buncha little things put together. Sure, I know how to build a Mobile Suit from the ground up, but I only learned that cuz I had to. Takin' toasters and coffeemakers apart and makin' 'em talk back to me (http://www.livejournal.com/users/02maxwell/12612.html) is way entertainin'! *shakes his head with a grin* Plus I get the adrenaline rush that I'm used to from fightin' a war by doin' battle with Gremlins! No down-time here on this island, no siree!
