At the front desk, Sarah is killing time reading "Lucifer's Hammer" and shooting a dart gun with the little rubber darts at passing students without looking. The puppies and kittens are scampering around the floor in a playful mood, looking for people to pick them up.

Sonia finds a seat in study hall, grateful to not have any Friday classes. One of the puppies scurries over and nips playfully at her ankles. She had playfully dubbed this one Beni, as he reminded her rather of her little cousin, and she reaches a hand down to stroke his head absentmindedly while she flips through a book on Greek vocabulary.
