At the front desk, Sarah is teaching the puppies to attack a tiny toy robot. Most of them are gnawing cutely at it.

Due to the fond looks everybody has been casting at the corner of the room, she's brought the pool table back.

"Nothing much. Hanging out in study hall, counting down the hours till the weekend, planning the weekend. Why're you so damn tired?"

"Bunnies are not nocturnal, except when they're in a new place." Parker tilts her head and yawns. "Bet you didn't know that."

"I did not." John is attempting not to laugh. He finally fails and does laugh. "You got a bunny? Why?!"

"Because Zero thinks she's sneaky." Parker grins. "And she knew I liked bunnies. So now, I have Esmerelda, who is not Logan Echolls, and who is currently surrounded by all the furniture I have in my second room. I'm getting her a play pen and some toys tonight." She yawns. "I already got Skywalker to sing Bunny Foo Foo to her. For that alone, I owe Zero a *really* good Christmas present."

"I never saw you as a mother, Parkie," John grins and laughs.

Parker's eyes widened in horror. "Bite your tongue right off, John Crichton." She made a face. "At least it's better than naming sea monkeys. What were you thinking?"

John made a face right back. "How'd you find out about that? And I named them for Aeryn!"

"I talked to Sun last night. Speaking of someone with few maternal instincts. Sea monkeys are a science project, not pets."

"She asked me to name them. It's her first pet type thing. I'm thinking of getting her something bigger, actually."

Parker rested her chin on her fist, looking speculative. "Like what? A gerbil? Hamster? Anything would be better, really." She rolled her eyes. "And make it something you don't have to bribe Faithful not to eat."

John shrugs. "Dunno. Something small that she could learn to care for fairly quickly but something she can physically hold. Hamsters and gerbils are good. Ferret might be too much for her."

"Mice or rats would be asking for trouble." Parker cocked her head. "A mongoose or a ferret would really suit her, though." She snickered. "Plus? I can see her training one to attack tiny robots, like the puppies over there."

"Really? You think a ferret would work?" John taps his chin for a moment. "I don't want her to get mad at me if she doesn't really want a pet though..."

Parker raises her eyebrows. "It is a responsibility, but... I think she'd like one. Maybe. No reason. I just think so..." She shrugs. "Ferrets are bright, self-reliant, and affectionate. Although some of them bear a startling resemblance to that Malfoy brat."

"You seem awfully sure that she'd like one," John remarks. He doesn't push though. "Know anywhere I could get a ferret?"

Parker grins, but doesn't share her thoughts on that subject. "Hmm. Mainland, I'd guess. That's where Zero got Vladdie for Rory. I wouldn't expect a pet store here to carry exotic pets, but you could always check."
