Hello.

You all did quite well on your midterms Tuesday; I was pleased by your progress.

I have not yet received exams from

egyptianlove,

actingltcrumpet -- who I believe is in the infirmary -- or

julianlawless -- who I haven't seen in human or cat form in several weeks. They should all stop by my office to make up the test.

In addition, if you did not have time to complete your dialogue with me, please do so today. This applies to

bluemanoncampus. Most of you have only a minute or two to go.

I promise I am harmless in this context.

On to today's work:

Languages of Europe: We will finish the semester by beginning a study of the French language. A first step in studying any language is understanding its history. Dream goes on to lecture on the historic background of the modern French tongue.

Cat: While most of you have an excellent vocabulary, I noticed a few problems with regard to attitude and tone that might lead to you offending any especially regal cats you happened across. Tigers use the most formal language of any Earth feline: watch this DVD and review ways you might better model respect in addressing other cats.

Begin to learn about French here.

Rogue listens to the lecture drowsily. Every ten minutes or so, her head jerks up as she fights to stay awake. She takes note furiously, trying very very hard not to sleep.

Dream notices her falling asleep and, without stopping his lecture, walks over to her desk. Quietly, he says Are you well?

Simultaneously, he wills Rogue to stay awake. But he does so weakly, so her body can override it if the sleep is more important.

Rogue jerks up. "Oh, I'm so sorry." She's blushing furiously, embarrassed at being caught. "No, I just stayed up too late last night, and had to fling a pumpkin at 8." She smiles weakly. "I'm sorry."

I understand. Sleep well tonight.

Dream walks back to the front of the classroom.

Parker takes notes, notices Rogue starting to fall asleep, and would kick her if she were within kicking distance. But since she isn't, the best Parker can do is take good notes and make a note to share them.

Lisa smiles. French she can do. Spanish, not to much. She listens to the lecture attentively.

Piper listens to the lecture, finding French to be much easier than Spanish.

6 takes notes eagerly, wishing to impress his lady love.

Dream passes her the papers without comment.

Evie finished the written portion and then let's Dream know she's ready.

Dream smiles to put the girl at ease, addressing her in Spanish.

Evelyn smiles.

//Thank you for allowing me to, Professor. I'm doing well, just a little nervous. How is your day going?//

//Do not be nervous.

My day is going well, all things considered.

Do you have weekend plans?//

//Nothing much, really. I have a writing project I'm working on.//

Dream and Evelyn discuss her writing project until he tells her she can take her seat if she doesn't have any questions for him.

[OOC: Slowplay was fine, but I think we're at the point where we just need to close out the thread to keep it from running into class tomorrow.]

"Hello, Dream. Is now a good time? I've brought the ring I told you about." Parker looks less nervous than yesterday, and holds out a square-cut silver ring, simple but heavy, for Dream to examine.

Nodding his assent, Dream takes the ring from her. He turns it over in his hand, willing that the wearer remain in control even when in the deepest of the dreaming.

This should help, he says, handing the ring back to Miss Parker.

"Thank you. I'll let you know how it works," she says, slipping it onto the index finger of her left hand. "Although... I suppose you'll know. Won't you?"

Dream debates it for a moment, but he can't lie to this young woman.

If I want to, yes. I will.

She nods, then smiles a little. "That's actually a relief. I don't want to fall through a ...'soft place' by myself." Standing she says, "Thank you again. I'll -- see you later. Or, well. Not."

Both are correct.

I'll see you in class on Tuesday, if not before.
