Shop Class #8: Pumpkin Madness

As the students enter into the Danger Room Shop, they find that it has been transformed into a large field. On one side of a field is a barn with a large bullseye painted on it. On the other side of the field a series of markers, much like you would see at a golf driving range.

Everyone's flinger is setup where they left it and a large pile of pumpkins sits next to each one.

Mac tosses a pumpkin in the air with a grin.

"Okay kids... Let's have some fun."

((OOC: Read the following posts for what to do.))

Rogue carefully adjusts her gun, tipping it and aiming toward the barn. She follows the same procedure as before.

Sam reclaimed the sling, pulled another cotter pin from her pocket and reset it. The sling itself seemed to have sustained a little damage and was a little slippery from the first dead pumpkin, but was still sturdy.

She reset the sling, adjusted the pumpkin, did some quick calculations in her head, turned the flinger forty-five degrees to the left, and pulled the starter.

"Thank you, Mac." Sam frowned and tried to figure out where she messed up the calculations.

Sam smiled. "Just obsessive a perfectionist, I guess."

Because his trebuchet does not fall apart on the first fling, Edward resets it to load up a second pumpkin for the accuracy test.

Han loads a pumpkin in the sling, resets the counterweight and pulls the trip-cord.

The weights swing around and the arm launches the pumpkin from the sling.

Bridge tosses out the old filter and puts some new coffee grounds into the machine before pressing "brew" again. Once again, at the "ding!", the pumpkin launches.

Bridge then offers the steaming cup of coffee to anyone who wants it.

Anders crouches behind the ballista, sighting along it in the way that kids who've watched too many war movies on TV but have never touched an actual weapon do. Muttering to himself, he twitches it this way and that until he thinks he's got it lined up with the bullseye.

Pulling the pin from his pocket, he reinserts it into the ballista, loads up a fresh pumpkin, and starts cranking for all he's worth. He's decided to sacrifice a little bit of power for the sake of accuracy, and stops a couple of cranks short of the tension level he'd reached on the first attempt.

John fiddles with the pressure and cranks the barrel down a few degrees and kicks the trailer a few times so it lines up.

"Geronimoooo!" TUG!
