Death and Dying
"Hello, everyone. Please leave your coats and sweaters on, and leave your books and bags at your desks. If you would follow me outside, I have an experiment I would like you to observe."

Grissom steps outside, where he stands behind a large, dead pig wrapped in a blanket, with a fire extinguisher at his feet.

"I hope you read your materials on spontaneous combustion. Now, I am sure some of you still had your doubts, still believed there was a possibility of an unexplained phenomena at work."

Grissom then torches the pig, demonstrating the wick effect, as the pig burns body fat slowly and feeds the fire.

"Now, I have mainpulated the variables here a little for the purposes of a quick demonstration, but here is my question for you. Does this change how you feel about mysterious and unexplained deaths? Do you believe some cases will be later explained by science, or are there "paranormal" elements that can contribute to unusual deaths?"

"Also, before you leave, your homework for next week is to find an example of a death that you believe can not be explained by modern scientific analysis."

Sociology of Deviance
"Welcome, class. Before we begin, I'd like to mention to Bel that this week's Tentacle comes with ads for hentai, which we discussed earlier in regards to your project. You might want to take a look for research purposes."

"That being said, please have a seat and take your exam. You have an hour to complete it, then turn it in [and tell me your grade].

"For the rest of class, we are going next door to the A/V Lab. I have set up several stations with various video games for you to play. Spend time playing at least one game and observing the others as your classmates play them. Then discuss one thing that you believe could be perceived as deviant in one of the games, and why."

The set-up is of an Atari, a Nintendo NES, a Sega Genesis, Playstation 1 and 2, an X Box, and a computer station. There are many games to choose from. ~~May I suggest Base Wars zomg~~.

I'll be playing Marble Madness while you take your tests.

As the test requires strict memorization, Angelus scores perfectly. When he hands the test up he smiles. "Hey teach, anything I need to do to make up for last week?"

"No, thank you though Angelus, your absence was excused," Grissom gives him a half-smile. "Good work."

"That's very understanding of you, sir," Angelus smiled. "So, which game would you recommend I try?"

Grissom looks a bit embarrassed even under his expressionless countenance. "I... didn't get to play all the games yet. I, ummm... might have gotten a bit wrapped up in a game of Oregon Trail and neglected my duties to fully research the media before class."

"I'll see what my fellow students are doing and report back," Angelus said. "Happy to help with the research."

Wednesday shows up several minutes late, a black basket (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/338879.html?thread=16290495#t16290495) in one hand.

Displaying the baseket to Grissom, she offers, "Professor Grissom, my apologies for my tardiness, but I had to pick up Hyde from his babysitter after my Biology work."

Grissom looks down, a bit confused, but then remembers the note from Mrs. Van De Kamp in the lounge. "Ah yes, I have heard of this project. No problem, Ms. Addams. Are you ready to take the exam this week, or would you like an extension?"

"I'm ready sir," she told him. "I kept up with my studies, even though I was forced to miss class."

Belthazor happily turned in a midterm with a score of 90%, then headed over to the A/V lab to play "Grand Theft Auto."

"This is pretty fun!"

[OOC: Hentai! *dies*]

Grissom looks over at the game, watching Bel play, and shakes his head. "Well, I guess I don't need to ask what kind of deviant behaviors can be found in this game."

"Yeah, do I have to pick just one to discuss? That may be difficult."

Grissom whipsers under his breath, "no shit."

"Ummm... no, I think this game is particularly... yeah, no. We'll discuss the effects of these type of games at a later date, for now this is more collection of data. Maybe... jot down a few notes, to remember for later."

Angelus sits beside him, taking up another controller. "Prepare to have your ass handed to you."

"Bring it on," Belthazor challenged, grinning.

~~Wouldn't you rather do something else to it than just hand it to me?~~

"Oh, see, I was prepared to simply win," Angelus said, settling in with a grin. "Now I'll make you cry like a bitch."

~~Dur. But I doubt that's the kind of devience Grissom is looking for from this lesson.~~

Grissom laughed at the boys competitive nature - it reminded him of his team back home.

Wednesday's test is a perfect 100%.

((OOC: ... wherein it helps that the player paid attention in college. Hooray!))

When she passes her exam in, Grissom gives Wednesday a nod of approval. "Excellent work. You.. and Hyde, may move on to the next section of class when you are ready. I'd recommend keeping the windows closed, however. It kind of smells like bacon outside still."

Taking Hyde and his basket over to the various game systems, Wednesday hesitated before choosing one. Carefully setting Hyde down, she let Silent Hill load as she carefully examined the directions.

((OOC: What? No PS2? Shame on you!))

((OOC: *snickers* I figured you didn't leave it out on purpose. Wednesday, however, has never SEEN a game console in her life much less played with one. This really ought to be amusing. I'm going to have to go home and play Silent Hill 2 and think up a few reactions for her.))

Ivanova hands in an exam with a rather disappointing score of 80% and resolves to study better. She heads for the video games and after mulling over the various options, she plunks down in front of Nintendo 64 for some old school Super Mario Bros. Which is in no way the only video game the mun can play.

Logan does A- work on his test, and definitely enjoys the video game portion of class more.
