Study Hall -- Wednesday, November 9th

Sarah sits at the front desk reading "Swan Song" and not looking particularly happy about it.

One of the puppies is sitting on her lap. It does does not look adorable.

(OOC: My apologies for missing study hall the past couple of days. The mun's work schedule is a bitch, which makes the mun's sleeping schedule even worse.)

"Henna's definitely doable. Suggest not tattoos yet. It's still a growing egg, and tattoos do not generally stretch well. Plus.. needle, shell.. not good. Although, we could do a flash on Hyde with coloured pens, if Hyde wanted." She regards the egg as though waiting to hear what Hyde would prefer. When the egg doesn't speak, she shrugs slightly and addresses it, "Perhaps you'll have a better idea later this afternoon."

"We agree with keeping it gender-indistinct. Eggs are morphic in nature. It'd be rather unfortunate to pick a gender only to have it hatch into a completely different one," Duce notes. "Rather like the human parents who are positive their child will be a boy, only to have to change the name to something horrid like 'Paulette' after birth, because they've already monogrammed 'Paul' onto the baby blankets."

She shudders. Whether at the idea of baby cuteness or the horridness of the name 'Paulette', can't quite be determined - although both would be appropriate. Really. Paulette?! What kind of name is that, anyway? Wretched.

"Henna will do. Something traditional and very tasteful," Wednesday decided, adjusting Hyde's hat. "Would you like us to make an appointment or should I just stop by?" Her eyes narrowed suddenly. "Red XIII has children, has he not? It would be good for Hyde to have a chance to play with other children."

Duce nods, and then stops suddenly, thinking of something, "How durable is Hyde? Castor and Pollux are rough with their playmates. They can't help it, they're just at that age." She leans back in her seat, trying to think of a suitable activity, "Maybe we can convince them to colour."

Waving a hand, she adds, "You can just stop by, or if you want, we could pickit up from you and bring him to work. We're usually not busy when we first get in, so could do Hyde's henna first thing and send it to play with the cubs." She frowns, "Although that, again, would require a particularly non-mobile activity while the henna sets."

"If Hyde is broken it will be my responsibility, not that of its playmates," Wednesday told her. "There is a decided age difference. Perhaps they would be willing to attempt to keep it entertained while it sits in its basket and its henna sets? Babies do need to be distracted and entertained, after all. Or, if we are lucky, it might sleep through the henna. We shall have to see."

She turned the basket and looked at the egg thoughtfully. "If you wouldn't mind taking it to work with you? I think that it would do it good to be out and about for a short while. I have a feeding schedule that I can send along with you and two jars of pureed vines. I could come down and pick it up after my Sociology class?"

Forehead clearing of frownline at that excellent idea, Duce nods. "Yeah. We were going to head there after Journalism. Heading there from here, Spider'll probably have something for us to discuss for about an hour, so.. around 2-3pm? When's your Soc. class let out?"

Her cell phone beeps. Pulling it out, she glances at the message. "And that would be Red, telling us to swing by the diner and talk to Deb before work. So, Hyde'll get to see a bit of the town before it gets henna'd."

(ooc: Was gonna go check Deb's now if the post is up, and chime in at work, because I'm not sure how late I'll be on tonight. Would Duce take Hyde from here, or shall we assume she swung by and got it after Journalism? Journalism, btw, is on hold until I get home and have the roommate bring me a printout of the NYT webpage and stories.)

"Sociology isn't till evening, truthfully." Wednesday frowned, considering. "If you'd like to take Hyde after Journalism, I can pick it up either before or after I go to Biology lab to make up the class I missed last week. That's four to six. What would work best for you, Duce?"

[identity profile] medusae-x.livejournal.com 2005-11-09 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Actually, if you can stand to part with it for that amount of time, you could pick it up after lab. That'll give us enough time to run errands, set the henna, and have Hyde all clean and happy by the time you pick it up." Duce frowns, "There's no rule against you having a sitter for that long, is there? Wouldn't expect there to be.. one hour is an awfully short time for a sitter."

"I think that as Hyde is also socializing, it will be all right." Wednesday tilted her head to one side before picking up the basket and setting it atop her Psychology text. "I'll come and pick it up before Sociology and it can show off its henna to Professor Grissom."

Duce smiles, "Cool. We'll pick Hyde up after Journalism, then."

(ooc: *snicker*)

((OOC: If the NYT thing is giving you fits, I can try forwarding you the headline thing it sends me and I can just CnP anything that takes your interest in a locked post, if that would make your life easier?))

(ooc: If we have any more assignments on it, that would be wonderful. It must be me.. neither my work computer or home one will let me log in. Mel's bringing me home the printouts today, and I have no way to contact her and tell her not to. Will get to it when I get home. Would hate to get the 'you're batshit insane' look from the roommate for nothing.)

((OOC: *snickers* Next time I assign something from it, I'll forward you the e-mail they send me and I can grab any article you want to use and put it up for you someplace.))
