Beka caught Bel's look, flushed, and looked away, but he might've seen a flash of anger in her eyes before she did.

Belthazor scribbled a note, wadded it up into a ball, and threw it at Beka.

Beka ignored the note for a long time. OK, maybe it was like a minute. But long enough to let Bel know she wasn't in a hurry to see what it said.

You're lucky I love you, or you'd be so very very dead right now. How much paper you got?

Then she turned her side to Bel and lifted up her vest to show the bruising across her ribs that she hadn't even mentioned to Angelus.

Belthazor read the note and looked over to Beka. When he saw the bruises he shook his head as if to deny it. I did that? he mouthed to Beka. I'm sorry....

She gave him a slow nod. And those are just the visible ones.

Then there was another note:

I'm not even sure I want to tell you what you said. Do you remember any of what you did?
