As you know, today was the scheduled date for your midterm examination. Due to the events on and off campus this past week, in lieu of a proper exam I am going to assign you a take-home essay to be completed for Monday. The grade you receive on your essay will be your official midterm grade.

If you will need an extension or any other assistance with the assignment, please speak to me before you leave.


The Essay: In our second class, you each ranked types of crime from the worst type of crime to the least. Would you still rank them in the same way? Why or why not? Please use your fellow students' thoughts, and outside opinions in your work.

You may leave as soon as you sign in.

I have also been instructed to refer you to the various counseling services made available to you on campus and off campus. Please seek out and utilize these resources if you require them.

Maia signed in and walked over to Grissoms desk and said quietly. "Do you need anything sir?"

Grissom was startled by Maia's concern. "No, no, I'm fine. How are you doing?"

"Oh I'm fine." Maia looks completely unconcerned about the events around her and then she looks at Grissom. "I am concerned about you, your having surgery this weekend." Maia still keeps her voice low, concern for Grissom however is in her voice.

"Yes, well, Dr. Wilson seems to be very competent. I'm sure it will be successful, and I have made all the provisions I needed to before the surgery. Thank you though, for your concern. I do appreciate it."

Maia nodded slowly. "Well I just thought I would let you know. Its not going to be easier sir, on you. Well..I just wanted you to know that I am here for anything you might need." Maia turns to leave the class
