Criminal Justice, Class 16

[OOC: Despite everything else going on, still get plans to me by Saturday. I will not be doing class replies from work at all today because SadTick has made me cry already and I'm not subjecting myself to that at work. And anyone who has seen The Tick cartoon will find our special guest much more amusing than anyone who hasn't. Anyone who hasn't will just think that I have way too much of certain illegal substances. Class Info Post.]

*Tick sat at his desk. Quite frankly, he looked terrible. He probably hadn't slept in a couple days. And while his students had probably questioned his mental state before now, it would be extremely easy to tell that he wasn't in the sanest of places at the moment. The fact that there was what could only be described as a very crudely made little wooden boy sitting in a chair at the front of the class likely confirmed this.*

Well, this is a Criminal Justice class. Could we really talk about anything besides what was announced last night? Please, discuss whatever you feel you must. Memories of Kitty, thoughts on life, opinions on the new rules like curfew that have come as a result. Whatever you want. If you don't have anything to say, that's fine. Just continue working on your project.

If you'd rather discuss your thoughts privately with a trained professional, I advise you to speak to Little Wooden Boy. *Tick motioned to the chair in front of him.* He is a trained psychologist and will be glad to listen to anything you have to say. *Little Wooden Boy said nothing, as he is inanimate.*

Also, the projects remain on the given schedule. We need to try to keep things as normal as possible. Have the plans to me by Saturday and we'll run the simulations on Sunday.

*Tick moved LWB's chair to a secluded corner of the class so anybody choosing to speak to him could have some privacy. Tick returns to his seat and waits for any discussion to begin.*

Cameron's not sure what to say on the subject. He didn't know Kitty, but that doesn't make it less sad. He trusts the school to make the right decisions when it comes to new rules, so he quietly sits down and starts looking through the ACME catalogue.

Jaye brought cupcakes. She wouldn't have, except this was depressing, dammit.

Janet sits down and starts working on her project. She didn't really know Kitty that well, so a public display of grief would be hypocritical.

*Looks around* Er, I think I still need a partner for the project. Anyone?

"Sorry, Marty and I are working something out," says Janet.

Anakin sat in the back of the classroom and tried not to pick up too much on the emotions of his classmates. Every now and again his eyes tracked over to where Rory was having a conversation with a block of wood.

He supposed this must be some planetary custom he wasn't familiar with.

Vala comes in, more sad for The Tick and the few obviously affected students around her than anything. She'd never even met the girl, and she herself certainly wasn't a stranger to murders and violent, senseless death.

She sighs and starts checking the ACME catalog to plan her project.

Aeryn takes her seat. Like everyone else, she didn't really know Kitty, but she doesn't like how it's affecting everyone. She's used to people just not coming back sometimes, but this is disconcerting.

Marty sits in the back of class and barely interacts with anyone.

Jaye holds a cupcake towards Little Wooden Boy. "Want?"

Rory wandered into class, and went to kneel beside LWB's chair.

"Hello, Little Wooden Boy," she said softly. Under normal circumstances, she'd feel beyond silly. But she had been having a lot of trouble actually talking about how she felt about this, beyond guilt. Maybe...talking to an object coould help.

"Kitty's dead, and it's my fault," she began quietly. "I shouldn't have even let her go off by herself. And I know...everyone keeps saying that I'm not to blame, and that I couldn't have stopped whatever got her. But I was right there. I was right near by when she died. And I'm never going to be able to forgive myself for not knowing and not helping her."

She bit her lip, and continued. "And everyone's upset over this. Even people who didn't really know her. Which one one hand is...amazing that people cared. But did any of us really know her that well?" Rory swallowed hard, and continued, her voice cracking. "No, no one did, really. I wish I had, though. She was such a good person. And she didn't deserve this. She should've been able to finish making that bunny, and to finish high school, and go to college. She should've had a life. And it's not...fair. And sure, life isn't fair, but this is so wrong."

On the last word, the tears she had been fighting finally spilled over, though Rory quickly swiped them away.
