This week, Electroclash was actually there when the students filed in. Progress! She still didn't look like this was her favourite place in the world to be, but then you shouldn't expect too much of a good thing, anyway.

"Okay, my name's Electroclash," she drawled, once everyone was settled. "I can control machines, and I'm apparently teaching this class on superheroics." Eyeroll. "No one bothered to tell me this was supposed to start last week, so... sorry about that, or something. Anyway, this Kaplan kid – who's my new sidekick for the class as of right now – took some notes about you." She waved a ~~handwavily acquired and horribly modded~~ paper at them, then looked down at it. "Not that it was that much good 'coz I'm only interested in your cape names, and you insisted on giving your civilian ones. But I took the liberty of renaming you!" She smirked at them, smugly, as she retrieved another piece of paper, then called out each of their names in turn, and told them their new aliases. Which were non-negotiable as far as she was concerned, though you were welcome to try.

With a few unnamed people left, Electroclash trailed off. "And then ~~not everyone did IC introductions~~ I got bored reading this thing, so the last few names are to be announced." Actually, there was probably just the one. "Right. The SPA tells me today's topic is costumes and gimmicks. It's pretty simple. I give you a bunch of bright spandex and you design yourselves costumes, which you'll be wearing for the rest of the course." Or not. She was fickle. "Design shit and the Flying Sycophant will get the actual costumes for you for next week. And if you don't have a superpower that gives you an obvious gimmick, you might wanna think about that, too."

She didn't really care, just flopped down into the chair behind the desk, gesturing at a few boxes of fabric nearby. "Well, up and at it, kids, you haven't got all day."

On one hand, being a TA would look awesome on his transcripts.

On the other hand, oh god, what had he gotten himself into? Maybe if he focused on drawing his own costume (which looked suspiciously like the one he already had), he could calm down a little.

"Alright there, Sycophant?" Who even knew whether she was shortening his new name or just calling him a sycophant for the hell of it. "You're not going to match your costume to mine, are ya?"

She was just teasing, honest.

Billy's ears turned red and he ducked his head down a little more. "I don't know, is your costume red and blue?" he said, squirming. "I'm sorry about the note. If it like, annoyed you or anything."

Electroclash laughed. "Are you blushing?" Oh, that was adorable. "I'm just teasing you, kid, lighten up."

Granted, her kind of teasing tended to have hints of a cat playing with a mouse before the kill. But that was just how she tended to come off in general.

"Oh." Billy didn't blush any less, but at least he wasn't blushing more either. "Sorry. What's the SPA? Is that like a textbook?"

"The SPA," Electroclash sighed, making a face, "is the Super Power Authority." She was already used to no one here knowing what it was. She was actually kind of glad of that. "Basically a bunch of pricks who tell you what you can and can't do with your powers. It's bullshit."

Tell us how you really feel, Sarah.

"So, like, the superhero police? I guess someone has to try to keep people from using their powers for bad things." The idea made sense to Billy, at least.

"But they should focus on the fucking villains," Electroclash replied, a little sourly. "Some of us are just trying to do our job."

Yeah, someone might've only been here because she had problems with the SPA. Maybe.

Billy was doing a good job, in his opinion, of not balking too much at the swearing. "Did you get into trouble?" he asked.

"Trouble, no," Electroclash replied, because she liked semantics sometimes. "A... minor disagreement with the SPA about the proper use of my powers, yes. This is my community service."

Now, Billy, it's okay to look horrified that you're TAing for someone who was sent to teach you as punishment.

It was good that it was okay, because horrified was probably a good word for Billy's expression. "You're not, you know, a villain, are you?" She hadn't tried to hurt any of them, aside from the blows to their egos.

And had that been enough to merit villain status, Electroclash really wouldn't have known many heroes.

"God no, too much effort," she replied, dismissively. Because that was reassuring. "As much as that would hilariously piss of my parents, no."

She was a hero, just not a very good one.
