Everyday Skills, Friday 2nd Period

Ever the picture of professionalism, Oz sat with his feet up on the desk reading the latest SkyMall magazine as he waited for his class to finish arriving, there was probably something in there he could use in a future class.

"There you all are," he said when he finally put the magazine down. "Morning all, for those of you I haven't seen before, I'm Oz, and I assure you that any story you may have heard about me are complete exaggerations. Well, maybe not all of them. Anyway, this class is Everyday Skills, and like the description on the sign up forms said I consider this class to be a life skills primer, covering some of the basics that everyone should know, you know, the kind of things that you'll need even after you've graduated, so we'll be covering a range of topics, like cooking, forgery, job interviews, bomb diffusion, sewing and mending, safe-cracking, to name a few."

Oz had a slightly different definition of life skills to most people.

"Now, I'm sure you're all sick of introductions by this point, but one of the most important skills you can have is to make a good first impression, so we're still going to do them, I want your names, classes, and one example of what you think an everyday skill is, whether you have it or not."

"Also I need a TA so if you think you're up for it come and see me after class."

[Have at it.]

Hello, Rebecca's boobs.

Which Peter didn't pay attention to for all that much time, honest. "He did," Peter said, "And he's not bluffing." Beat. "Or maybe he's been bluffing all this time..."

Peter Wiggin: doing his part to make Oz's reign of terror... a little easier.

"You've taken classes with him before?" she guessed. "What's the scoop here?"
lockestheway: (peter: a bit smuggin')

"Let's just say Professor Oz has... his own style of teaching technique," Peter said lightly. "I'm not sure whether I should spoil the surprise, really."

Rebecca eyed him, then leaned back in her chair. "Fine. I'll take your word for it," she decided. "Only 'cause you made it sound cool."

"I try my best," Peter said, grinning. "So how are you fitting in?"

"Pretty well," Rebecca said, tilting her chair back and not tipping over or anything because she was Just That Cool. "Six-day weekend's not bad. I could live without the roommate, but other than that? Definite step up from my old school."

"Ugh, don't talk to me about roommates," Peter said. "Mine was gone for an entire semester. It's hard getting used to the guy being back."

"Yeah, way to give you false hope," Rebecca agreed. "Why was he gone? Drug problem?" Look, her old school had been full of rich kids with rich kid problems.
lockestheway: (peter: my eye on you)

"I think so?" Peter offered. "He did always have an aura of... you know."

"Cocaine?" Rebecca asked sympathetically.

Peter snapped his fingers. "Your words, not mine," he said, because he wasn't going to get caught calling his roommate a druggie by the squirrels. "But he's definitely something."

"Mine's blind," Rebecca offered. "And sort of smells weird." Might or might not be true.
lockestheway: (peter: curiously)

"You have my condolences," Peter said, nodding. "That's one of the downsides of the dorms system."

"I'm putting in a request for a single," she reported. Too bad that would fail. "In the meantime, I've sort of been checking out... alternative places to stay."

Ho.

Yeah, definitely.

Peter wondered vaguely what it had to be like to be that focused on getting laid all the time. "I hear the hotel staff is a pleasant bunch," he said lightly.

"That's what I've heard," she said, not missing a beat. "I might go over and check them out after class this afternoon."

See, maybe she hadn't been being dirty! (She had been. But.)
