Into the Black Meeting (Before JA)

Anakin was inside the flight simulator, a hydrospanner in one hand and a set of F-16 cockpit schematics in the other.

"Today we're going to try something a little different--flying in gravity. I've switched the sim to replicate an Earth craft called the F-16." He smiled. "It looks like it'll be a pretty sweet ride--Cam's bringing the simulator data for it."

He gestured to a holographic heap of a ship. "Before Jayne and Sheldon skipped town or got eaten or whatever, Jayne said we could have this ship, which has been parked in their backyard since Wash disappeared. Only problem being I don't know what it is or really how to fly it ~~and all of the Firefly characters have disappeared.~~. I'm guessing it'll be relatively standard once we crack it open, but I'm looking for a few volunteers to come work on it with me and go on a test flight." He smiled. "Promise we'll come back in one piece. Not making the same promise for the ship."

"Okay, Cam, let's get you off the ground in this bird. Atmospheric, so you're pulling real gees, and there's real drag. Climb on in."

Cameron nods, he's spend years geeking out over this plane. "Can't wait to try it," he says as he climbs in the flight sim.

Han hands him the helmet, makes sure the sim chip is in place ans shuts the door. His voice crackles over the helmet radio, "Launch in five, four three two and mark!"

There is a sensation of being slammed back in the chair as the show begins.

Cameron is definitely enjoying the sensation of being slammed back. It's different than the last time, but it has its own charms. As he's getting more used to the controls and starts doing some tricks in the air, Cameron brings the plane down lower. The landscape below him is a field of ice and he blinks as it somehow looks familiar. Shaking his head, he shrugs off the feeling and continues flying until the sense of familiarity comes back to him.

There's other planes now, weaving around him and they're being shot at. Cameron tries to dodge them, but there's an explosion and he loses control over the plane.

"Banks! I'm losing it hang on back there. Eject. Eject." He shouts and reaches for the levers but they're not there. "We are going in."

The F-16 is heading straight towards the ice, Cameron's lost full control over the simulation.

Han sees the warning light, stops the sim and cycles the door open. "Cam? you okay, man?"

Vala steps closer too and peers in, looking worried. "YoYo? What happened?"

Cameron looks confused around him as the screen goes off and stares up at Han. "Where's Banks?" He asks in a panic.

"We don't have anyone named Banks, Cam. You okay? You didn't hit your head when you crashed the simulator, did you?"

His hands are shaking as he janks at the straps, "I'm fine. Banks is... my co-pilot. He's..." He manages to gets the straps loose and jumps out of the cockpit. This definitely isn't Antartica, but it doesn't make sense. It felt too real.

*Vala takes him by the shoulders and looks seriously in his eyes* "Are you o.k.? What happened in there?"

He stares at Vala and reaches out to touch her face. This is more real, but he was inside that cockpit too. "SG-1. We were supposed to keep them safe, buy them time. The goa'uld... we got it."

Vala goes pale at mention of the Goa'uld. "Cam, you're here at school, there's no Goa'uld here!" Prays it's true and starts to pull him away. "You don't know what you're saying."

"Anubis," Cameron stammers and stares back at the flight sim. "He's dead, isn't he?"

Vala looks up and around, to see who might be listening to all this. She turns to Han with a smile. "He's just a little dizzy, I think. I'm going to take him out for some fresh air."

Then she grabs Cam by the arm and hauls him out of the meeting.

"Okay, pal. Your lady's waiting for you or her turn, not sure which."

No, I'll try it later... *looks at it dubiously* Thanks.

"Banks? Who's Banks?" *Starts trying to lean in far enough to feel his head for lumps.*
