Into the Black Meeting (Before JA)

Anakin was inside the flight simulator, a hydrospanner in one hand and a set of F-16 cockpit schematics in the other.

"Today we're going to try something a little different--flying in gravity. I've switched the sim to replicate an Earth craft called the F-16." He smiled. "It looks like it'll be a pretty sweet ride--Cam's bringing the simulator data for it."

He gestured to a holographic heap of a ship. "Before Jayne and Sheldon skipped town or got eaten or whatever, Jayne said we could have this ship, which has been parked in their backyard since Wash disappeared. Only problem being I don't know what it is or really how to fly it ~~and all of the Firefly characters have disappeared.~~. I'm guessing it'll be relatively standard once we crack it open, but I'm looking for a few volunteers to come work on it with me and go on a test flight." He smiled. "Promise we'll come back in one piece. Not making the same promise for the ship."

...you really need to ask if I want to help put a ship back together?

Anakin smiled. "Not at all. You know where Jayne's house is, right? You can go ahead and give it your expert opinion. I'm gonna stick around until Cam gets here with the sim data, then be right behind you."

Erm... I don't, actually. Never really met Jayne, at all. *scratches her head* I'll just wait.

A few minutes later, Anakin came trotting back up. "Sorry about the wait," he apologized. "Jayne's house is right around the corner."

You know... I just realized something... as much as I'd love to help you, I think maybe this might be a job for a certain "ABC Damage Control"?

We'd work for pizza, I swear. And maybe some soda. And half a dozen cookies each. And toast.

"That could be a great idea. And Professor Amidala wants the whole thing to be looked at by someone who's not me before we try to make it fly."

*scratches head*

Do we know somebody who could check it for space-worthiness? Adult-like, I mean?

Anakin shrugged. "I don't. Professor Amidala's going to ask around."

Okay. So... is the spaceship just sitting there, then? Like, Damage Control could just stop in and start work whenever?

"Absolutely. The key code to open it is 1234, which isn't exactly the most difficult thing to remember."

We'll get on it as soon as we can arrange it. *nod* 1234. Crazy, I have the same combination on my luggage...

Anakin gave her a bright smile. "Thanks, Cally. And if you think I might be able to help out at all, let me know when you're heading over."

Will do. But I think we might try this out as our first big project, if you don't mind. We've just been waiting for an opportunity to show our stuff. *smiles, beamingly*

Anakin nodded. "Of course." He smiled. "Have fun. Try not to blow up anything that will be missed, like the ship, the house, or you."

No blowing up. But we take no responsibility for wacky side effects such as computer panels that occassionaly spray cheese whiz or anything like that. *nod*

Anakin raised an eyebrow. "Noted."
