Don't Be Evil [Friday, Second Period]

Oz had his class meet him in an ordinary classroom today. "So here we are, our final class," he said once they had finished arriving. You could tell it was a final because there was cake. Cake which was not a lie. "Hopefully over the last few weeks you've learnt something about not being evil, and about recognising evil when you see it."

"Rather than a written test, I want you to tell the rest of us what you personally have learnt about not being evil, and try to come up with one way you can prevent evil in others. Because, like forest fires, only you can prevent it."

Topher shrugged. "I learned that... bombs are cool," he decided. "And, huh. Um, torturing hungover kids in a movie theater with crying babies? Also cool. And... dancing is dangerous. Oh! And it's fun to boss people around. Definitely that one."

He'd learned a lot. Really.

'I've learned how to keep a crowd terrified and yet unwilling or unable to complain about it for a full school year' probably wasn't the answer Oz was looking for.

"I've learned not to sneak out on a sleeping teacher," he said, "Unless you've slipped him the pills yourself, but that would obviously be evil, so we shouldn't do that either. Oh, and kicking puppies is a terrible, terrible offense. And always search for a bomb in your teapot."

Which was a ridiculous way of talking around the thing he'd actually learned, which was the above.
