The Elements of Friendship, Thursday, Period 1

The students arriving in class today would likely be relieved to find Pinkie back to her usual, fluffy-haired, cheerful self. There were no signs of any cobbled together pony statues, or piles of lint, or bags of flour this week, just a nice clearing in the Danger Shop generated woods, decorated with balloons and streamers, centered around a giant chocolate fountain.

"Welcome to your very own Cute-ceanera!" Pinkie announced, once the students had gathered. "The day a young pony gets her very own cutie mark is a really really really really really really *gasp* really really important day where I come from. It's the day she finds out what her true talent is, what makes her unique in all of Equestria! And some ponies like to celebrate the occasion with a big party! Since it's our last week together, and humans don't even get cutie marks of their own, I thought it was only fitting if we have a cutie mark celebration right here!"

With that, Pinkie clapped her front hooves together, and a flash illuminated the Danger Shop. When it cleared, the students would find themselves magically marked with a small pictogram representing one of their special talents.

It was supposed to end up on their pants, but Pinkie wasn't really good at human anatomy, yet, so it really could have appeared just about anywhere visible.

"So check them out! Have fun! Eat cake! And maybe even show off your extra-specialness to the whole class!"

It was a relief to see Pinkie sane again. Well. Sane for Pinkie. And it was Scully's last class of the semester-- what wasn't to enjoy about that?

Ask them about their cutie marks, perhaps!

She'd love to tell you about hers! Though she might get sidetracked by a creation myth or something.

Not that she knew that yet. She was looking around at everyone else, startled and amused.

Spock

Spock, not that he knew it yet, had an IDIC symbol on the back of his pants.

Had he been aware of it, and Human, rather than Vulcan, he might have worried that it was making his butt look big.

Spock was giving the chocolate fountain a wide berth. A very wide berth.

Ender eyed the pen on his side, and sighed. Well, it could have been much worse.

Miley Ray Stewart

A big Z appeared on the front of Jeremy's t-shirt, underneath his open vest.

"Oh cool, does this mean I'm like Zorro or something?"

No, Jeremy. It means you appear to sleep with your eyes open a lot.

Miley didn't realize anything was up until she brought her hand up to scratch her nose. Then she realized that said hand had been stamped with Hannah Montana's signature glove (http://www.celebrityclothingline.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/miss-tina-fingerless-glove.jpg), and promptly shoved it into her pocket so no one could see.

Even though, you know, it was kinda cool.

Miley was hoping not to be asked about hers.

But, you know, you could ask. She would just make up a possibly hilarious lie.

Pouring a drink with only one accessible hand? Sure. Miley could do that.

Okay, she couldn't. Nobody notice the spilled soda on the floor, mkay?

Juliet Darling

Juliet got a gemini symbol (http://www.energy-healing-info.com/image-files/gemini-symbol.jpg) inside a star on right inner wrist.

"Two?" she frowned at it. "Am I a sequel?"

Once Juliet figured out it was an astrological symbol and not a number, she was pretty cool with her cutie mark. Mostly it made her want to be 18 so she could get a real tattoo already.

Squall Leonhart

Squall knew what symbol he was going to get. There was one symbol that was exclusively, obsessively his: Griever. To him, the winged lion represented strength, pride, and independence. He'd invented it years and years ago, and he'd already put it on a necklace, a ring, and a fob hanging off of his gunblade. It was his symbol, and there was no question about it.

So he was surprised not to see it on his pants. In fact, he didn't see a mark anywhere.

After twisting and turning and checking everywhere, he finally took off his leather jacket and looked at the back of it. There, on his shoulderblades, the Danger Shop had stamped him with Rinoa's signature wing design (http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/97945968/24756776), in a red that matched his belts.

He nodded to himself thoughtfully and put the jacket back on -- it seemed appropriate, somehow.

"Ooh, maybe we're we supposed to be like... Zorro 2?"

Jeremy would think they were a combo set.

"Zorro 2?" Juliet frowned. "Is that the one with Catherine Zeta-Jones?"

A combo set made sense to her, too, so now she'd be trying to figure it out for a bit.

Rilla Blythe

Rilla was under the mistaken impression she hadn't gotten a cutie mark, but that was because the picture of her (already much hated) green hat (http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z1/sith-happened/hatcoquefeathergreensm.jpg) had appeared on her forehead.

"And Antonio Banderas," Jeremy nodded. "But the second one, not the first one."

That was generally what sequels were all about.

"... I'm not sure what that's supposed to say about us."

Juliet went into deep thought. "That we're as awesome as they are?" she tried. "Or else that you should wear a mask. Hang on..."

She was tilting her wrist from side to side, as if that'd make it look less like an II.

"I could totally rock a mask," Jeremy said, but absently, as he was trying to peer over at her wrist. "Hey, are you sure that's a two?"

Because now it was starting to ring bells in the more astronomical part of his mind.

"See, I was just thinking that!" Juliet exclaimed. "It could be some kind of ... Greek letter, maybe? Or Chinese?"

She was a Scorpio. Why would she be looking at the horoscopes for May and June?

Jeremy frowned. "No, I mean, it's like... a constellation, or something?"

And then, a beat or so later:

"Oh, dude, that's gemini! Of course!"

"I should have recognized it!" Juliet said, feeling exceedingly silly. "So, I got twin-star, which is exactly right, and you got ... oh."

She'd thought of something that wasn't Zorro, but she wasn't sure she wanted to say.

"Zorro?"

"Zorro," Jeremy agreed, but he'd caught something in her expression that made him question it. "What? You don't think it's Zorro?"

"Um, well, you know how you're the best person in the world at kind of zoning out...?" Juliet sounded halfway apologetic.

Well would you look at that: realization was dawning. "Ohhh." A pause, and he grinned. "Well, that's fitting, right?"

Come on. In a few years, he was going to list his ability to zone out as a skill that should help him being placed into a job. He was not ashamed.

Jason Todd

Chuck could totally get by with the little computer mouse that showed up on the top left of his shirt. It worked. He was unashamed of being a nerd, for the most part.
