Hello, everyone, welcome to class, I have pumpkin loaf, pumpkin spice muffins, and ginger pumpkin soup if you are hungry.

As you may know, today is Día de los Muertos. Today, we are going to use some of our skills to prepare simple decorations and craft projects from the festival, and learn about traditions of other cultures, which is always important to consider when having a social gathering!

Please complete at least one of the following projects, and you can take your work home with you to share or enjoy yourself!
Sugar Skulls
Paper Flowers
A piece of Folk Art

Look at the project the cats made. Aren't they adorable? I am going to kill them with my bare hands, and laugh about it.

Paige takes some of the soup and loaf "These are wonderful thank you Ms Van De Kamp. I still need to talk to you about my project by the way. I-I can't do it anymore."

"Oh sweetheart, what happened?"

She take s deep breath, she's not as upset about the whole thing than she was but it was still pretty painful

"we broke up, I did a few things to the house, but well not as much as I had planned, what should I do now?" she asks

"I'm so sorry. Do you have a place to stay? That's what you get you living in sin! And don't worry about your assignment, we can come up with something. Perhaps you could come up with a plan for redoing a room in a way that would make you happy."

Paige smiles "yeah I'm living in the West Attic with another student, thank you. So if I just work on how I'd decorate a room without actually doing it that would be ok? Because I'd like to do that."

"That's absolutely fine. Why don't you find some sample of what you would decorate with, and write up a design proposal? That would be more than okay."

Paige smiles "That sounds great, thank you Mrs Van De Kamp"

Maia came in. "I think I am going to do a sugar skull."

Maia set about getting the things together to make her skull.

at the close of class Maia presents her skulls for Ms. Van De Kamps approval.

"Those are excellent dear, I am very impressed! Thank you for all your hard work today."

Maia smiled warmly at the teacher. "Can I give the small one to the cats?"

"Are there any small parts for them to choke on?"

Well, stick something small and pointy on there for the love of God! "I'm sure they'd love it. Go ahead."

sticks on an opened safety pin "here you go kitties, here you go" Maia said sweetly take that little kitties *evil laugh*

"Awwwww..." With my luck, the frelling cats will turn the safety pin into a weapon. They must take Shop Class when I am not paying attention.

Boone entered the class, looking a bit rattled from his weird dream the night before. He picked at a muffin, and took a large sheet of paper, beginning to draw a piece of folk art (http://www.mtholyoke.edu/~kjohanns/images/muertos.jpg).

Paige sat next to him loking slightly worried about telling him the whole I'm in love with Sawyer thing, but if he touches you again I'll kill him

He smiled at the sight of her, "Hey." He murmured, "Sorry about the cryptic answering machine message this morning."

She smiles "that's cool, I was just so happy to hear your voice seriously Boone I've missed you. A lot happened while you were gone" she says reaching out for his hand

"I've heard," he said, blue eyes light and intense, "How have you been?"

Paige looks at him worried for a moment, but then she realsies this is Boone she's with who knew her pretty damn well really so clearly wouldn't believe any of the crap about her.

"so you heard about Geoff asking me to move out? I'm ok, I sort of come and go really, parent's weekend was hard because of what happened to them but my Grams came"

"That's good. You were looking forward to seeing her, then?" He asked, running a hand through his unruly hair.

She nods "yeah she had a lot to tell us about.." she looks around "well you know."

She looks at him biting her lip "Boone, I know you're friend's with Sawyer and stuff, and well I also know he can be a total jackass, but well we're going out now."

He drew in a short breath, "I see." He murmured, leaning back in his chair.

"I had a weird dream last night," he said, trying to change the subject.

Paige looks at him "he's not as mean as he likes to make out you know." she says sighing, "so do you want you tell me about it?" she asks

"Sure. Maybe you can help me figure out what it meant." He shrugged. "It was about my sister," he began.

She smiles "well I'm not sure how good I am with dreams but I'll do my best"

"A few years ago, when we were ten, my sister and I used to fight all the time..." He went on, somewhat hesitantly, "We loved each other, of course, but we weren't able to find any common ground. The only time we can ever agree on anything is when I say yes to anything she said." He paused to gather his thoughts before going on.

Paige nods listening to him "yeah I remember you talking about her" she says

"Anyway, we were fighting and we knocked some things off a shelf. Nothing was broken, except for this little porcelain egg. We both panicked, and she agreed to hide the pieces under her bed. I have no idea if she still has them, but that was the first time we came to a consensus, really." He smiled slightly at the memory.

Paige smiles "so basically you agreed on something to keep yourselves out of trouble then? Well that makes sense. So did this actually happen of was it just a dream?" she asks, she was so glad Boone was back it was just a shame the thing with Sawyer looked like it was going to be an issue

"This actually happened. Here's the dream part." He closed his eyes, as if to remember, "I dreamed that I was in her room, laying on her bed, and she was looking under the bed for something. She found the egg, and... she grinned and asked me if I thought anyone might notice if it was broken. I said yeah, and she broke it in her hand."

Paige frowns a little "right that sounds mean, but you said you're sister was like that didn't you? I don't suppose it means much, I guess maybe the dream was just like a reminder of what she was like. From what told me about her."

"She is like that, but..." He sighed, "I don't know. I've just always expected better of her. She uses people all the time, but I think..." He trailed off.

"Yeah I can see what you mean, you think what? maybe she has a valid reason for using people?" she suggests

"She's used to getting what she wants. We've always been pretty spoiled, you know," he paused to consider, "Shannon and me would probably be pretty different if we hadn't always had most of everything given to us."

She cocks her head at him "but you're not like that Boone, I mean you like the nicest guy I've ever met, you were really supportive when I went through all that stuff with Geoff."

"I guess I just react to things differently than she does," he murmured, his light eyes twinkling in the dim light.

"I guess so." she says "I really am glad you're back Boone, this thing with me and James won't be an issue will it?"

"Not at all," he said quietly, "I don't mind." He offered her a reassuring smile.

"I'm glad you feel that way, I mean it's like an open thing so we're not exactly all that serious." she says smiling slightly at the thought of Jonathan

"Mm." He nodded as the bell rang, signaling the end of class. "I'll see you around, Paige."

Paige was quite clearly not convinced he meant what he said about Sawyer but there wasn't much she could about it, she really did love him.

"Yeah ok, see you later Boone."

Piper wanders into class, grabs a muffin and starts to make a sugar skull.
