Basic Strategy, Monday, Period 4
There was a sentence on the whiteboard as the students filed into the classroom, and a handout sitting on each desk.
"If you know both yourself and your enemy, you can win a hundred battles without jeopardy." - Sun Tzu
Once everyone was seated, Tyrion started to talk. "If you know both yourself and your enemy, you can win a hundred battles without jeopardy," he read. "That is from The Art of War, by an ancient Chinese strategist named Sun Tzu. It's well regarded in this world. but all worlds have their books on how to fight a battle - mine certainly does -- and all of them have some good and some bad in them. "
He gestured to the whiteboard. "Many of them say something like that, too. And why do so many of them say that? Because it's true. You need to know your resources -- your men, your weapons, your strategy, your weak points -- but if you don't know those of your enemy, all of the accounting is for nothing."
"Your job this week is to discuss strategies you personally could use to get that information. Your enemy's certainly not going to wander up to your field tent and say" -- he affected an even posher accent than his own -- '"Hello, we'll attack from the North at three with a cavalry charge, I hope we're done by the time it gets dark because our commander's night vision is for shite.' So it requires a bit more cunning. Don't just tell me you'll dispatch spies or steal documents; tell me how, for whatever enemy you want to define. Starting with" -- he pointed randomly -- "you."

It was unfortunate that she actually did.
Kate was here for anyone who needed her. Preoccupied, but here.
