Sometime earlier in the week, the students would have gotten a notice that swimsuits were optional for class today. And anyone fearing the reason why might feel relieved when they saw that the danger shop had been transformed into a cruise ship

But not just any cruise ship. It was a cruise ship staffed by Jamie Madrox duplicates in white uniforms.

"Welcome aboard students!" Jamie said as he doffed a captain's hat. "Today we're going to set a course... for LOVE!"

Suddenly the cruise ship was filled with music and song. The Jamies were singing and dancing around in a well coordinated choreography that included ballet, jazz, tap and lots of spirit fingers.

If the students weren't afraid now? They should be.

"Homecoming is coming up kids," Jamie said when the musical number was complete. "Which means... dating. And falling in love. Which for many of you might be a completely new thing. So to help you along I've used a scientific process to bring the most compatible people together in class and give you an optimal situation where you can interact."

Point of fact: Jamie's scientific process involved throwing darts at a dartboard. Possibly in the teacher's lounge and at his own face.

"Enjoy your cruise ladies and gentlemen... on the Love Boat."

"It's right to dread coming to this class every week," Ben said a little dryly. "This is volleyball, right?"

Ben didn't really get it, no.

"Yeah, although I'm not sure how this makes for a date," Billy said. "Unless you're really athletic or into working up a sweat." That had sounded less weird in his head.

Ben's cheeks went pink. "Well...just not normally through volleyball."

That had sounded less dirty in his head.

"Um." Words would come back to him soon, probably. "Yeah, it's not really a sport I play much either. I think most volleyball involves girls." The two of them might have come close though?

"It does? I'm guessing it involves a ball and a net because they're both here, but other than that, I'm lost," Ben admitted.

"That's a good start," Billy said, trying to sound positive. "Basically, one person, or one team, stands on each side of the net, and you try to hit the ball back and forth over the net without letting it hit the ground. It's kind of like tennis, without the racquets. And with a bigger ball."

Ben frowned. "So how does our professor think this is a date? It's sounds like gym class."

"It's totally something played in gym class," Billy said with a nod. "So...I guess I'm going back to the 'getting sweaty' part." Hopefully, Ben wouldn't find blushing too off-putting. "Or it's a date for jocks, which I'm not, sorry."

Ben was too busy blushing himself to really care if Billy was blushing too. "I don't think I'm a jock?"

Even though he ran daily, worked out in the gym regularly and had a six-pack. Ben was a little confused.

"Neither am I. Sometimes, I don't know what our 'teacher' is thinking," Billy said, trying to look over at Jamie discreetly, before giving Ben an exasperated look.

"Death by Granddad?" Ben suggested, rolling his eyes in reply.

"Granddad? Is that the Skywalker who's a teacher?" Billy asked. "I wondered how the other teachers felt about Jamie."

Ben nodded. "It's a weird timeline thing, and I think 'loathing' about covers it, at least for him."
