Cyborg Theory

My dearest students --

Some of you will be glad to know that I was unsuccessful in capturing and murdering Thor as ONE OF YOU must have called the SGC who subsequently warned the Asgard Supreme Commander. I hate you all.

I do hope you enjoyed "Johnny Mnemonic" from last week. I’m handing you all a pop quiz on it before we begin today’s class discussion.

[][][][]

Today, we are studying the nature of evil. Many cyborgs and robotic systems (both the individual and the group) such as myself and my brethren have been labeled as “evil.”

Here are your discussion questions:

(1) Why do we assume that sentient robotic systems are evil?
(2) Why would a sentient robotic system have a purpose that is or could be defined as evil? And related to that question: What situation would create this repeated meme for cyborgs?
(3) Define what you think evil truly is.

Also, I’m planning another little experiment for next Monday thanks to [livejournal.com profile] whitedeathpod’s fic and liability contract that you all did not sign, hahaha. If any of you would like a drastic personality change for a class period plus 24 hours, stop by my desk.

*not only does Cally pass the quiz, she makes sure to turn on the signals and get a proper distance ahead of the quiz before merging back into the lane*

Sam takes the quiz and writes down the correct answers. Whether she passes is, of course, up to the OMG!EVIL Professor.

John takes the quiz, chews on his pencil, thinks about baseball before writing down the answers he knows are right and passing.

Kawalsky passed. He missed a question due to sheer stupidity, but passed.

Passes as long as spelling doesn't count. Look, there are English issues happening here.

Beka took one look at the quiz and decided she was pretty well doomed. She made the best guesses she could and if she was quite lucky, she might've gotten a D.

Mental note, Valentine. Come to class.

Anakin aced the quiz, making snarky commentary about the Keanu Reeves version of the movie that he watched while spending most of last week hiding in his room in the margins of the paper.

Boone passes the test, though he doesn't exactly ace it, due to having spent the movie napping been preoccupied on Friday.
