Basic Strategy, Monday, Period 4

The class was back in the Danger Shop this week, and Tyrion was in considerably better form than he had been the Monday before.

The back area of the shop was set up as a boutique, with racks of fashionable and vintage clothing for all occasions and large curtained dressing areas -- including makeup and hair tables -- to the side. A magazine rack placed near the center of the area held a wide variety of current fashion magazines.

Tyrion gathered the students near the front of the area. He hoped he'd be able to hold their attention, evem if he was competing with clothing.

"A few weeks ago," he began, "I ran through some of the areas in which one might be advantaged. The first one we looked at was strength; this week, we'll be looking at beauty." He paused there, half expecting a laugh; what could a dwarf know of beauty?

The stabbing thought passed, and he continued. "You cannot change the form you were born with -- or not without considerable effort and pain. You can, though, make the most of it. Your clothing should be neat, clean, and as high-quality as you can afford." This may have been easier for a Lannister to say.

"Any outfits you wear should make the most of your form without suggesting it might be for sale -- unless, of course, you are for sale. Your hair should be neat and nicely styled, any cosmetics discreetly applied. I won't deny I'm no expert on the fashions of this world, but things have not changed that much."

He drew a breath. "It might seem like a womanly topic, but men are judged on appearance nearly every bit as much. We all have to wear clothes every day; when someone who cares about them is looking, it can't hurt to make them worth looking at."

He gestured back to the racks of clothing. "This week, I want you to pick something out that makes you feel like you have the upper hand. Something you'd wear to meet someone you needed to impress. Then come out and explain what you chose and why."

Bruce played it simple, but powerful. Black suit, black shoes, black socks, black belt with a simple buckle, white shirt, nice silver cufflinks, red silk tie, hair brushed neatly.

No makeup, though.

James chose to use the modern look of the Fandom age over his roots: black boots (the ones he wore to the class, polished nicely), dark blue suit with pinstripes, light blue shirt with white collars and cuffs, black belt. The suit fit enough to show off his form but not so tight that he couldn't move without ripping the fabric.

Also, no makeup. Hair and beard presentable.

Lex took his time going through the racks, closely examining his options before making a decision.

Black dress pants, white shirt with simple silver cufflinks, plain belt, dark purple silk tie. The regular suit jacket reminded him too much of an Excelsior blazer, so instead he picked out a three-quarter length coat in fabric which matched the pants. He kept his shoes and socks, since they matched the rest of his outfit and he wasn't going to find and break in anything better in the time allowed.

Perhaps the only advantage of being bald was that hair was a complete non-issue, and he'd already moisturised this morning (look, he had a lot of skin on display) so he skipped the make-up.

Bart started looking through the clothes. Grife. What would he wear? Conner always looked cool in just a t-shirt and jeans. Tim always managed to look good in anything, but then again, he had Batman and his butler to help him out.

He looked around at what the other people in the class were doing to try to get some hints.

Jason almost felt kind of bad, because this had to be way easier for the guys than the girls. He found a nice suit in his size, and a white shirt with a sedate tie. It was the sort of thing he'd bitch like crazy about having to wear somewhere, but he also knew it was the kind of outfit you had to wear if you wanted any kind of respect from people with money.

Tony was SURROUNDED BY DC, HOLY CRAP busy looking over the clothing available. Somehow he hadn't really noticed that his clothing was considered higher quality than most.

Because he wore jeans and a t-shirt most days. Designer jeans and a t-shirt. Who else would put horrible red patches on jeans but a designer?
