The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Though he'd heard about something like it being in the works, the club fair wasn't what Simon had been looking for.

Regardless, it was what he found, just as it was being set up. He almost left straight away, to avoid being in anyone's way, but then his curiosity won out. So, he decided to stay and take a look at the club schedule.

Couldn't hurt, could it?

"Well, I don't plan on getting embroiled in any scandals," not that anyone really planned on that sort of thing, "if that helps any?"

Kate shrugged, leaning her hip against the nearest table. "I didn't vote for you, so it's not like you're letting me down any." Not because she wouldn't have voted for him, more because he wasn't in her candidate pool and therefore not an option.

"You can have as many scandals as you want as far as I'm concerned."

"Well, I could... embezzle funds or something," Toby pointed out. "Again, not actually something I'd do."

"Use bake sale proceeds to pay for hookers and beer?" Kate suggested.

Toby... didn't seem that type either.

Really not, judging by the way his face suddenly resembled a tomato, at least in colour. "Yeah, no," Toby shook his head. "So not worth it for American beer," he said, trying to recover any dignity he might have had.

D'aww. "If you're going to all the effort you could probably stretch to importing Canadian," she pointed out, unable to quite stop a grin. Making him go all pink was pretty entertaining. "Or whatever else."

"You're enjoying this, aren't you?" Toby said dryly. You... really didn't need to be a telepath to see that.

"Immensely." Kate shrugged. "I'm a horrible person." And easily amused, it seemed.

"If it makes you feel better I could tell you about how I was an ex-porn star for the weekend." Given the shade of his face at the mention of hookers, that... probably wouldn't help?

"You-" to his credit, his voice didn't actually squeak. "I suppose that's better than currently being a porn star?" he tried to find a bright side.

"That would've been a lot more awkward on Monday morning." As it was, all she had to apologise for was some unnecessary bawling. "And more likely that someone, somewhere would have the evidence."

"You know, from what everyone else has been saying, I think I might've lucked out with my mysterious blackout inducing tumor," Toby admitted.

"I'm considering myself lucky for not ending up dead." They were both grading on quite the curve.

"Did you swoon dramatically in anyone's arms?" That seemed like the sort of thing might have gone on, if everyone else's experiences were anything to go by.

"There was no swooning!" Toby said, although his eyes darted over in Sam's direction briefly. No swooning, but there had been tears and hand-holding and... yeah. "I did eventually end up in a coma though." A beat. "I got better."

This was one of those 'doth protest too much' moments. Or protest too quick, anyway. Her eyebrow twitched upwards, "No swooning. Got it."

"And I can see that," she noted, still a hint of amusement in her eyes. "That might've put a crimp in your ability to be here, and sign up for... whatever you wanted to sign up for."

"The weird part is I actually got better on Sunday," Toby shared. "I just... woke up and I was fine. I don't even think I woke up in the clinic."

Re: Mingle Around the Gym

[identity profile] withasword.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Were you in your coma at the clinic?" she checked. "Or was did you just drop in the middle of the park, or something?" Possibly waking up in the clinic would make sense. People weren't really in the state of mind to have remembered to take him to a doctor.

"I was," he confirmed. "I went there and Scully was all... super-thrilled to have someone to do brain scans on."

Re: Mingle Around the Gym

"Gotta appreciate someone who loves their work..." Even if excitement over a brain scan was a little against the usual rules of bedside manners.

"I'm not even going to try and figure out how you got to somewhere else. Nothing about those couple days makes sense, and it's a Friday." Therefore nothing made sense. End of a week, no one should be expected to theorize.
