The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Though he'd heard about something like it being in the works, the club fair wasn't what Simon had been looking for.

Regardless, it was what he found, just as it was being set up. He almost left straight away, to avoid being in anyone's way, but then his curiosity won out. So, he decided to stay and take a look at the club schedule.

Couldn't hurt, could it?

"Yep," Petra confirmed. "I think we have a class together? Cultural Understanding?" Unless there was another student with wings ~~still like a gay parrot?~~...

"With Alistair and Morrigan," Warren agreed, with a nod and a slight ruffle of his ~~sadly~~ snow-white feathers. "Not a bad class so far, I think. Definitely more useful than licking doorknobs."

Yes, Madrox, he was judging you.

"Is there an over-under on whether the teachers are going to finally kill each other or screw?" Petra wanted to know. "And how can I get in on that if there is?" Wait. "Licking doorknobs?"

"I've got my money on hatesex," Warren confided, pouring himself a cup of coffee. "And... Yeah. The last class with Professor Madrox was on the third floor, where he was trying to get us to lick doorknobs to see if they tasted like bacon."

He leaned forward slightly, conspiratorially, "I think having his brain split up between so many bodies all the time makes him a little weird."

Petra finished chewing another bite of her pizza before she admitted, "I have no idea what you're talking about. But I'm getting used to that."

By some miracle, Warren managed to choke back a laugh.

"That's pretty much the status quo around here," he admitted. "I've been here for well over a year, now. It gets kind of easy to forget that most people think that phrases like 'my teacher can make copies of himself by stomping his foot on the floor' mostly just sound totally insane."

Or like you were talking about a mutant.

"I had to take photos of the pink talking pony and send them to my friends to make sure there wasn't some kind of mass hallucination going on," Petra said. "Baby steps."

"Even seasoned Fandom veterans didn't quite believe that nothing was slipped into the water when she showed up," Warren admitted. "And that's on an island where people randomly turn into ponies and birds and things."

"...wait, what?" Petra asked. "Now you're messing with me, right?"

Petra's big sibling had been MIA, and she had spent her first three or four days plotting her escape from the asylum. She'd missed a lot of the basic newbie information, and while people had made references to 'half the time the students are animals' or whatnot around her, she'd assumed they were being, you know, metaphorical.

... Oh, poor girl.

"You know how last weekend, people went totally insane and started acting... uh..." Insane did manage to pretty much sum it up. "Fandom does stuff like that pretty often. I've been a budgie a couple of times."

Yeah, he was totally wrinkling his nose at that. Budgiedom wasn't something he was exactly proud of.

That didn't actually help that much, Warren, because, "What's a budgie?"

Oh, man. Now he was going to have to talk about this!

"... A really, really small bird that people usually keep as pets. Uh... Parakeets? They squawk a lot."

The blushing. Oh, the blushing.

"Oh." Okay, this might actually be a bridge too far as far as weird went, but maybe it was like last weekend, and he just thought he was a parakeet. Although he did have wings... "I know parakeets." She sighed and said, "So I should probably get back to my table before someone wants to talk to me or Kenzi steals all of the cupcakes." Or Lex. But there weren't forty, which was as many as four tens.

They would just have to be extra vigilant if they saw Lex come in with a cart, was all.

"Right," Warren smiled a little, holding up what was left of his cupcake. His delicious, delicious cupcake. "Over at the Pride table? I hope you guys get a good turnout."

The cupcakes should help. The glitter, too!

Petra leaned toward him and confided, "I'm baiting with cupcakes. I hope the fraternity does well, too! And thanks for the pizza, I so needed that."

"Hey, like I said, there's plenty," Warren admonished with a wave of his hand. "And the cupcake more than makes up for it. It's been a long time since I've had a good cupcake."

Just trust him on this one.

"I'll see you around, then?"

"Sure thing," Petra said. "If nothing else, I'll see you in class." She gave a little friendly wave before heading back to her table.
