BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning

Petra was so relieved to find the Portalocity lounge and a banner proclaiming 'Fandom High.' She was pretty sure that meant she was in the right place, even if she did seem to be the first one here, and it meant she could sit down and stop dragging her luggage (two large, new-looking suitcases and an extremely battered green leather overnight case with an Audrey Hepburn decal on top) all over the airport.

She picked out a chair with a good view of the door so she could see new arrivals and sat down with Holly Go-Overnightly in her lap, then pulled her phone out. All her friends were still asleep, no doubt, so texting was out, but surfing the web seemed like a good way to kill some time while she waited for other people to show up. She hoped she wasn't the only new student. That would be awkward.

Lex was sure if they compared notes on the press that he'd win at losing.

"Not really. Just what was on the flyer." And the only sections he'd actually been interested in were the not-Excelsior and far away from Kansas parts. "Rosella is the...blonde one?"

If only he'd actually been trying to make that a joke.

She'd been in a boy band. She could totally hold her own in a press-off. Not that it was a prize she particularly wanted to win. "We're all the blonde one. Rosella's the blonde who looks like she showed up from a Ren Faire. She's the princess of some tiny European principality or something. I'm the tall blonde. Hanna's the other blonde." Sorry, Hanna. She didn't know you well enough yet. "Maybe we can put together a singing group," she joked.

Lex would take thirteen year old girls over middle-aged reporters looking for a hot corporate corruption scoop from a sixteen year old boy.

"I can play piano," he offered. "We could call ourselves The Blonde One and the Other One."

Thirteen-year-old girls were terrifying, Lex. Terrifying.

"Or The Blondes...and Lex." For the second part, she did jazz hands.

Terror was better than boredom. Lex would probably live to regret thinking that though.

He grinned at the jazz hands. "But that makes me sound like the singer, and everyone knows keyboardists get the girls, just ask Mozart." Geeeeeeeek.

"I would hope you would get all the girls, as the only guy in the group," Petra joked. "Unless some of my fellow blondes like girls, then you guys can fight over 'em."

Just because he was safe from hair-pulling didn't mean that was a fight Lex would win. "I'm fairly certain this is one of those situations 'ladies first' exists for."

"That's very wise of you," Petra agreed. "The female of the species being more deadly than the male and all."

"I won't argue with that." Not when he was outnumbered.

"I like you, Lex," Petra decided. "You're a smart guy." She reserved the right to stop liking him at any time if he turned out to be an asshole, but she did that with everyone.
