BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning

Petra was so relieved to find the Portalocity lounge and a banner proclaiming 'Fandom High.' She was pretty sure that meant she was in the right place, even if she did seem to be the first one here, and it meant she could sit down and stop dragging her luggage (two large, new-looking suitcases and an extremely battered green leather overnight case with an Audrey Hepburn decal on top) all over the airport.

She picked out a chair with a good view of the door so she could see new arrivals and sat down with Holly Go-Overnightly in her lap, then pulled her phone out. All her friends were still asleep, no doubt, so texting was out, but surfing the web seemed like a good way to kill some time while she waited for other people to show up. She hoped she wasn't the only new student. That would be awkward.

"Don't worry, I'm not, like, a mass murderer or anything. Not that I'm aware of anyway," Hanna said with a slight laugh. She was starting to feel a little less nervous. "Are you a new student, too?"

"Yeah, but isn't that exactly what a mass murderer would say?" Petra asked. "I know I would. If I was a mass murderer, but I'm not." She wasn't Ladybird Hope or something. "Yeah, I'm going to be a junior, how about you?"

Hanna eyed her curiously, wondering for a moment if Petra could possibly be 'A.' But that only lasted about a second, if that. They didn't even know each other prior to this meeting. "Yeah, me too. A junior, I mean."

"Where are you from, Hanna? I'm Mi--I'm from Rhode Island." Had Hanna looked a little weird for a second there. "I was just joking about the mass murderer thing! I could barely kill fish with my flat iron, and that was to survive!"

"I'm from Pennsylvania, right outside Philly," Hanna replied. "So not too far from here."

She raised an eyebrow. "You killed a fish with a flat iron? That's pretty bad ass."

"It's actually not that hard," Petra said, "You just have to be really patient and still and have great reflexes. But you can only catch the little ones that way; when we figured out how to make fishhooks out of our earrings it was much better."

"It's good to know flat irons and earrings are good to have in an emergency," Hanna said. She owned those things herself. "What happened? Camp out gone awry or something?"

She couldn't help being curious about that.

Like she seriously didn't know? Whatever, Petra would humor her. "I was in a plane crash? We were stuck on this deserted island for six weeks. Except it really wasn't deserted, there was a hidden Corporation compound there the whole time and then they tried to kill us."

"Whoa. Sounds like the plot of Misguided," Hanna replied, another eyebrow raised. She had not heard about this, but she had been quite distracted lately. "Must have been scary."

Understatement much, Hanna.

"Was that the show with the polar bear? Tiara said something about it, but she didn't know how it ended. And we had giant snakes that tried to eat Sosie instead." Petra would rather have had polar bears.

Giant, people eating snakes? Hanna had no words. The horrified expression on her face probably said enough.

"Yeah," Petra agreed. "It was pretty much exactly like that. But we survived? And we got out of there on MoMo B. ChaCha's yacht, which was pretty sweet."
