BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning

Petra was so relieved to find the Portalocity lounge and a banner proclaiming 'Fandom High.' She was pretty sure that meant she was in the right place, even if she did seem to be the first one here, and it meant she could sit down and stop dragging her luggage (two large, new-looking suitcases and an extremely battered green leather overnight case with an Audrey Hepburn decal on top) all over the airport.

She picked out a chair with a good view of the door so she could see new arrivals and sat down with Holly Go-Overnightly in her lap, then pulled her phone out. All her friends were still asleep, no doubt, so texting was out, but surfing the web seemed like a good way to kill some time while she waited for other people to show up. She hoped she wasn't the only new student. That would be awkward.

The fair lady pulled a less than fair face as she snapped her fingers, a gesture that would have sent her mother glaring. "Drat," she said. "That's what I was afraid of."

"You hoped for us to crash?" Hercules asked, his head tilting with curiosity. "Did you not wish to make it to the school?"

"Well, no," Rosella amended her comment with a faint, sheepish smile. "Perhaps not for a crash, but it would be nice to have at least a little bit of fun and excitement involved."

"There is plenty of that where we are going," Hercules said with a grin. "Indeed, my entire course is about putting students in peril and making them figure there way out. Well... mostly."

There wasn't a lot of peril when it came to stable-cleaning.

"So I've heard!" Rosella laughed. "About the fun and excitement of Fandom Island that is, not so much on your class, but that does sound thrilling! I'm always up for a bit of peril, if I may say so myself. It runs a bit in the family, you see."

"Ooooh," Hercules said. "And if it runs in the family, that must mean you are quite good at dealing with it. I think I shall hope to see you in my class!"

"Oh, I hope so, too, good sir!" Rosella said brightly, gaining a bit more of her bounce. "And you will be most impressed. I'm proud to say, I'm no stranger to adventure, and I do not intend to cease my acquaintance with her any time soon, for that matter!"

"That is the best attitude," Hercules said. "For I am no stranger to peril either. And the heart of a true adventurer is one who does not give it up when the adventure turns sour. Though I do hope my class will not turn sour."

"And if it should," said Rosella, thoughtfully, a finger to her chin, "then perhaps the true challenge that will present itself is for us students to figure out how to make things sweet once more."

That got another grin out of Hercules. "I am Hercules," he said, finally. "It is a very good pleasure to meet you."

"Princess Rosella," smiling, she happily ducked into a little bit of a curtsy, "of Daventry. It is a pleasure to meet you as well. How good to know that the instructors should be as exciting as the island itself. It would be just terrible to discover a mere repetition of some of the stuffy fellows I'm stuck learning my lessons from back home!"

"I don't believe in stuffy learning," Hercules said. "Though I make a habit of having a few nerdy friends in case that sort of thing might prove useful. Welcome aboard, your majesty. I hope Fandom proves a good place for you."

Rosella wrinkled her nose a little at the your majesty, but then she remembered that it was always nice when tutors said it.

"Thank you, sir," she said. "I'm almost positive that it shall prove to be just that."

Hercules responded with a thumbs-up. "Find a seat and get comfortable. You've got a big day ahead of you."
