Everything's A Weapon, Wednesday, Period 3

Cindy glanced around the monochromatic park. She and Reno had politely waited for the firefighters to finish removing the cats in the vicinity and then set up. If there was anyplace that needed what they had planned, it was here.

“Hey class,” Cindy said, waving a large gun at the approaching class--while ignoring the curious stares of the townsfolk who had gathered around to stare at them. “Welcome to your final.” She pointed to the pile of guns and eye protection laying in between their teachers.

"Basic rules," Reno intoned, grinning sharply and picking up a paintball gun of his own. His goggles were pulled down over his eyes. Because they were cooler than the stupid ones that were supplied for the students, that's why. "You can shoot one another, but the first one who aims for the head gets immediate detention, yo. Yes, over break, you think I give a shit how much vacation you miss? An' you can shoot the scenery all you like. Anyone who gets one of the locals gets detention, too."

Reno was caring and benevolent like that.

“Please shoot the scenery,” Cindy muttered. “It’s creeping me out.”

Greenery wasn’t supposed to be gray. They'd had enough of that back in Massachusetts.

“Now, then, rather than improvising weaponry today, you’ll be improvising shields and barricades. Things to keep yourself safe and unshot. But that doesn’t mean you can skimp out of protection, so eyewear before guns. And that’s an order.”

Reno hefted his gun, pointed it at a tree, and fired it off. Anyone who was surprised that it left a bright red smear across the trunk clearly didn't know anything about Reno at all.

"Pick your favorite color ammo, fan out across the park, an' then go at it, Rookies. This is your final, make it count."

Reno? Also here. Also vanishing for convenient snipings at Cindy unsuspecting students.

It was just the way that Turks worked, yo.

Surreal silently stalked through the tree branches, eyes slitted as she zeroed in on her prey.

Look, if she was going to participate, she was going to do her best to take out the teachers. Rules about head-shots be damned; she was going to use all the tricks in her little Bengal arsenal.

Hey, now. Cats in trees seemed to be a thing around here. Reno wasn't quite sure what was up with the kittens from this place that led to their compulsion to get themselves stuck up there, but fairly low on his list of dangerous creatures?

Surreal.

And so there he was, zeroing his aim in on a student that seemed more intent on hiding than actually participating. Silly Rookies, always doing things like that, not realizing that their enemy was always going to be there to shoot at them so long as they didn't shoot back...

Silly, silly teachers, not realizing their students were always going to be there to try and get a drop on them.

In this case, literally.

She crouched down, muscles tensing in preparation for the jump - there may have even been a butt-wiggle - and then she was launching silently into the air, aimed for the top of Reno's head. All that red hair made an easy target.

And now Reno had a cat on his head.

"The hell!?"

His paintball fired off and completely missed the student he'd been aiming at, leaving a red smear along the top of a park bench, instead. There was flailing in an attempt to grab the cat off of his head. One-handed flailing, because if there was one thing Reno could say for himself, it was that he never dropped his weapon.

Surreal yowled in glee, doing her best to stay on without using her claws. Well, without using her claws too much. She was rather sure that drawing blood would be an automatic fail.

Her goal? To bop him on the nose for an Epic Win, since she's already scored with getting the drop on him, and Surreal made a pass at his nose with paw.

What were people supposed to do in the case of cat attacks? Reno should know this. He had to contend with Petey all the time. But Petey didn't count - Petey was special.

Play dead? No, that was bears. Or sharks. Sharkbears. Probably not cats.

Play interested? That seemed to deter most felines, right?

Flag down a fireman?

... Or just get bopped on the nose.

"Um."

Surreal jumped off, satisfied, and paused only long enough to lash her tail at him and give him Smug Cat Look before darting into the underbrush.

A teacher should know to always be on alert from above.

"Dude, I loved this class," a bespattered Kenzi said, wandering up out of ammo near the end. "Just so's you know."

Reno blinked, taking in the sight of the splattered girl and cracking a grin.

Class well taught, then. Even if he had been tackled by a cat earlier.

"Good to hear, yo. Any particular favorites?"

"Hmm. The toy store? And the beach. Dude, that one was hard." Because it was the beach! And aside from barbecue tongs, who brought weapons to the beach? "You going to be teaching more next semester? You or Ms. Perrault?"
raspberryturk: (Hmm.)

"I dunno," Reno admitted, thoughtfully. "I ain't got no plans for nothin' next semester, but I can't speak for Cindy, yo. Maybe she'll pick up the slack where I'm missin' the target?"

"Heh, cool." Kenzi slung her paintball gun along her shoulders and dangled her arms over it. "I was thinking I needed to learn more defense crap. That thing with the giant STD space rock? Not cool."
raspberryturk: (Mmmhmm)

Reno gave a little nod, frowning sympathetically.

"Yeah. Couldn't hurt learnin' more than just how to smack things around with teddy bears," he agreed, quirking a little grin. "Fortunately, you're in the right place to pick up classes on that kinda thing, yo."

"Truuue. I think I'll bug Ms. Perrault about it, if you're not gonna be here." Kenzi gave him a cheerful smile. "Not that I want to have to do ninja training... although, it would be really cool to be a ninja."
raspberryturk: (Mmmhmm)

"Definitely one to remember," Reno agreed, smirking and giving that offered hand a firm shake. "No major casualties or nothin', yo. That's never a bad sign."

Yep. Totally did.

"You know, I'll never turn down a round of drinks," Reno laughed, nodding. "One good hit on Caritas to celebrate, yo. I think we really managed to drill somethin' worthwhile into these kids this summer."

Like 'paintball is awesome.'

"Wasn't on mine," Reno admitted. "Went back home for a bit, got sick of it, came back to teach. I think I had students that were probably about the same age as me somewhere in there, yo."

Which didn't bother him so much. He'd had Rookies who were older.

Hey! Reno already had one thing on his head today that he hadn't been expecting!

This time around, he was ducking out of the way and sticking out his tongue at her. Presumably to prove his maturity.

"You kiddin'? For a Turk, I'm practically ancient."

He was the third oldest member, age-wise!

Out of four.
