Cupcake War Crimes, Take 2, Week 4 [7/28, 3rd period]
Rest assured, cupcake-baking students, the classroom was gremlin-free this week. As if to add an extra level of assurance, there was a hockey stick leaning against the front counter of the classroom; every now and then Anders would eye the room, pick up the hockey stick, and brandish it warningly toward the corners.
“Sorry about the soap last week, guys,” he said once everyone had arrived. “Things really weren’t supposed to go that way, swear to gods.”
“We wouldn’t do that,” Stark assured them. “Never. Ever. It was horrible.” He shuddered, or maybe it was a shiver due to the still freezing temperatures outside. Possibly it was both. You might think he’d be warm under that ridiculous fur coat he had on, but you’d be wrong.
“Because that’s not cool,” Anders added. “Neither is this place, right now. It’s frakking cold, ‘s what it is, so this week we’re gonna do our best to try and warm things up with cupcakes that taste better while they’re hot.”
He paused, cleared his throat, and tried to look solemn and slightly ominous. “In theory, anyway. As we know, that can go really, really wrong.”
At that, Stark gave a rather significant glance at the currently covered tray of bad cupcakes. “It can lead to things like pulled pork. Or there are meatloaf cupcakes, but those are just tiny meatloaf in a cupcake tin. Not cupcakes at all.”
Anders cringed. “So far as I know, nobody’s tried to do that clam-chowder thing and make a cupcake bread bowl for soup, but maybe they did and hid the evidence. Don’t worry, though. We’re not doing that.” Then, brightening, he held up a pack of premade puff pastry (look, he was practical, not a gourmet chef) and added, “But you can give this funky cupcakes wellington recipe a try. And there’s these . . . well, they’re not cupcakes, but baking Nutella cake in a mug is pretty close, and it’s good while it’s hot.”
“Mugs are like cups,” Stark said helpfully. “So, they’re mug cakes. Not cupcakes. But we won’t tell if you don’t.”
“Promise.” Anders held a hand up in what in his galaxy passed for a scout salutein that BSG slight-variant-on-an-Earth-convention wayand indicated some of the cupcakes in the gremlin-free display case. “If you wanna be more traditional, there’s chocolate cupcakes with a spicy kick, though.”
[OMG LJ is cooperating. Late class is late, but damn it, late cupcakes are better than none!]

She nommed on a few of the chocolate cupcakes, studying a Cupcake Wellington. She wasn't sure what to think about a cupcake hidden in a puff pastry.
