The Magic of a Good Time, Wednesday, Period 1

The classroom was set up the same way as last week, complete with table of snacks, streamers, and balloons. Pinkie Pie was nowhere in sight as the students filed in. Once everyone seemed to have arrived, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight lit up the center of the semi-circle of chairs.

Pinkie had arrived.

She stood tall on all four hooves in the center of the spotlight, grinning up at the ceiling, wearing a dress reminiscent of the late 19th century frontier. And fishnets. She posed dramatically for a moment, before launching into her singing telegram number.

This is your singing telegram, I hope it finds you well.
You're invited to a party cause we think you're really swell.
Gummy's turning one year old so help us celebrate.
The cake will be delicious, the festivities first-rate.
There will be games and dancing, Bob for apples, cut-a-rug.
And when the party's over we'll gather 'round for a group hug.
No need to bring a gift, being there will be enough.
Birthdays mean having fun with friends, not getting lots of stuff.
It won't be the same without you so we hope that you say yes.
So please, oh please, RSVP and come and be our guest!

She finished with a flourish and paused for applause.

"There's loads of ways to invite ponies to a party," she said, once she felt she'd paused for an appropriate amount of time. "Songs are always fun and really catch a pony's attention, but it can get real tiring real fast if you're inviting more than a few people. That's where paper invitations come in!" She pulled a basket from behind the teacher's desk, full of envelopes each sealed with real sealing wax. "If you deliver them yourself, you still get to see that look of joy when your guests find out they get to come to a super-fun party! What are some other ways to spread the party word? How do you make all of your guests feel special? Get together and talk about it, and while you're at it, you can make some invitations of your own!" She set the basket down in the middle of the floor, along with a stack of fancy parchment, some quills and ink jars, candles, and sealing wax.

Because nothing said party like hot wax.

[ooc: apologies for the lateness. OCD is a go! Party on.]

Bod had seen people be invited to parties, he'd been invited to parties but he'd never done the inviting himself so maybe this would be a beneficial discussion.

Kate the cat had been left back in his room, sleeping soundly on his bed so Bod was alone and didn't have to worry about getting hot wax in her cat fur.

A class on parties kind of sucked when she was determined not to think about how it would be her birthday if she wasn't kind of dead, but Caroline was totally sucking it up and playing with the hot wax.

What? She totally planned to try this individualized invitations thing sometime in the near future.

Kenzi's life was now complete. She'd seen a pony do a musical number in a saloon girl outfit.

Kenzi was having waaaay too much fun making over-done calligraphy and borders, adding in stars, explosions, considering the application of glitter....

Also, dropping the hot wax onto her fingers and going "hot hot hot!" under her breath, before sealing the envelopes.

Guess who was bouncing along and clapping his hands in time with the cheerful little song sung by the pony?

Go on. Guess.

It was no Bennigan's song, but Butters had to get the lyrics from Miss Pie!

Re: Discussion [7/13]

Butters was more than happy to put together various different invitations, for a variety of different events. Birthday party, bachelor party, funeral party, coming out party, intervention party...you name it, he wanted to have an invitation to it!

And as he worked, he discussed. "I think Miss Pie's got it right! A song is the best way to invite someone to a party, but I like deliverin' invitations, too. Or you could make cupcakes, and put little notes in the cupcakes that say 'You're invited!' or maybe hire a clown to come and give balloons or maybe a kitten with a little ribbon and you can leave 'em on doorsteps! Or sky writing! But that might be tricky, because even if you said something like 'everyone's invited except so and so and whatsherface and Eric Cartman, why, I bet they'd still show up, just to be all difficult."

Really, he was talking to anyone who would be willing to listen.

And thus, Annie decided this was going to be a really useful class, and began to wonder if the reason no one had ever come to her parties at her own school was because she invited people wrong.

In reality, this class was most likely going to be really, really dangerous for anyone associated with Annie.

Mostly, Juliet kept Jeremy from getting the hot wax stuck in his fur.

She was such a good sister.

"Yeah, well I'm not really an invitations kind of guy," Jack said as he played with the hot wax. "I usually just let people know if I run into them or give them an OW!"

Hot wax.

"Call."

Bruce had to admit, getting a singing horse to invite someone to a party would almost definitely work. It showed you spared no expense with inviting them, after all.
