Open Classroom: Journalism

Sometime early morning on Saturday, Krycek reached the Journalism classroom to open it for students and parents to visit.

Around the room are several projects with attention grabbing posters and fliers.

The large screens up at the head of the class are set up to display various images, some of them of the students during classtime, some of them current news footage - all are turned to a very low volume so as to allow conversation at reasonable levels.

Then he sits down at his group's project to wait, occasionally thwapping candy teeth into submission.

John trundles his group's project (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhighdorms/222635.html#cutid1) into the room.

"I've seen too much of Celine Dion lately," he mumbles.

Krycek is sitting in for the "Say Yes to Vampires!" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhighdorms/219296.html) campaign, given his lack of parental visitation.

The bespelled, chattering candy teeth seem to be winding down, mostly sluggish, but once in a while one tries to escape the box.

Logan joins Krycek at the Vampires table. "Hey," he says.

"Hey," Krycek replies, eyeing Logan curiously. "Don't you have family in today?"

"Which is why I'm hiding out here," Logan says. "How about you? Any family in town?"

Krycek shakes his head. "No one," he says shortly, then changes the subject. "So the teeth didn't have any lasting effects yesterday? I'd hate to feed them to parents if there were problems."

"But students, that's okay?" Logan raises an eyebrow at Krycek. "Nah, they're fine." He picks out two sets of teeth and places the on the table next to each other. He lets go and watches the teeth skitter across the table.

Kat notices the posters, and can't resist. "Ah," she says, crossing her arms and fixing John with her best devious smirk. "So it's your fault they ended up having to outlaw the use of Celine Dion music as an interrogation device in 2025, as cruel and unusual punishment."

John seems a bit surprised and glances at his project. "Well, in order for me to answer that question, I need to ask one of my own. Did using her music work? Or did it do more harm then good?"

"I'm kidding. Mostly. Though there was an incident in 2019 where the Troobian Empire tried to steal a copy of her complete works, so there has to be a sinister side to it all."

"The Tuba Empire?" John frowns and sends another glance towards his project. "Well, this is more a joke too. Just something funny to get away from the serious side of it all." John offers her a CD. "Want one? (http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/9786/ist2270299blankcdcover7lo.jpg) They're free!"

"Why not? Just as long as I never let Boom get his hands on it, or we'll all regret it." Kat takes the CD and scrutinizes it. "As sung by John Crichton, hmm? Would that be you by any chance?"

"Yes, that's me," John grins and offers her his hand. "And you are?"

Chihaya constantly arranges and rearranges his display for their Journalism Project (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhighdorms/223198.html) and waits patiently to answer questions.

Smirking, Krycek watches them race. "At least the students have an idea that things around here are strange. The parents? Probably depends on where they're from."

Kat takes the proferred hand and shakes it with a smile. "Katherine Manx, Research and Development for Space Patrol Delta. I'm supposed to be here for Bridge Carson this weekend, but I haven't been able to find him."

John smiles widely. "Bridge! I haven't seen him either but I know him. Great guy, funny guy. We played some hockey together and he's gonna build me something. He's pretty handy with tools and stuff."

Kat raises an amused eyebrow. "Bridge is playing hockey now? I'd love to see this. He hasn't mentioned anything about that, but it's good to know he's got an outlet for all that energy. And yes, he used to help me out in the lab back at SPD Command quite a bit. Just don't let him get too carried away."

"Well, we've only had one practice and that was more us falling down and laughing but we're trying." John laughs and debates telling her that he has no idea what carried away is for Bridge. "Well, I've got him and Duo Maxwell building me an engine for a small rocket. We're gonna launch it and fly it around the school."

After leaving Emily in her hotel with a promise to pick her up later, Rory walks back to school and into the Journalism classroom.

Spying Logan, she grins. "What did you say to her?" she asks, crossing the room to him.

Having no idea where Delirium is this weekend.. but with all the craziness around, suspects she's here somewhere, Duce drags her father in to the Journalism room to show off her project and answer questions anyone might have about it.

"Ah. That's not too bad. It's when he builds things without a plan in mind first that it gets interesting." Kat winks. "Thanks for the CD -- in case you see Bridge around, can you tell him we've been looking for him? I'm going to go find Commander Cruger now."

She turns to walk away, and pauses halfway to the door to add over her shoulder, "And remember: cruel and unusual punishment."

Logan grins back. "Nothing special. I was just polite. Want some teeth?" He holds up a set of teeth, which chomp at her weakly.
