Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

"There's a fucking little pink pony over there!" Ramona said, pointing angrily. "If you're not seeing it, I need to figure out what the fuck I'm tripping on."

Nathan tried to find this mythical pink pony and when he actually did see, his eyes widened. "Holy fucking shit. I didn't even smoke this morning and I'm seeing it too. Is the food laced with acid?"

"Oh god, I'm so glad you see it," she sighed. "So glad. I could kiss you, I'm so glad. I wasn't prepared to be on surprise LSD or whatever. Dude, I don't know what the fuck is going on, but that thing came over to me and asked me what my name is and wanted to dance."

"...did you dance?" Nathan asked because that would have been fucking hilarious. "Please tell me you danced because you thought you were on some LSD enhanced trip and thought dancing would be the best fucking idea in the world right then."

"I didn't dance," she said, shaking her head at him and frowning. "I poured out my drink and got the hell away from it. I don't fucking understand this island. At all."

"Aww, poor baby's had a rough day," he said and stuck his lip out at her. "Want me to get you something to stuck on so he can relax? I'm sure I can find something handy, dandy and big."

"What, you don't do angry sex?" Nathan asked, shrugging casually. "Apparently, it's supposed to be quite good. There's sweat, aggression, writhing limbs, angry thrusts and pissed off moaning. Who wouldn't want that?"

"It's better when you like the other person," Ramona said, having done this. "I, anyway, am not interested in having angry sex with you. I'm not really interested in having sex with you at all right now, actually."

Well, that wasn't what he wanted to hear but he wasn't going to tell her that. He wasn't going to show her that either because damned if he was suddenly gonna make himself open to her when she got bitchy at him for being able to read her.

"Did one of the new young bucks catch your eye?" he asked, pushing through like a pro and hoping to hell she said no to his question.

"Nope. Haven't been looking," she admitted, shrugging. "How many of the new girls are you going to try and go through? Planning on making a list?"

Why was she asking? She was a masochist.

"Well, you know," he said vaguely, shrugging. "I do like me a girl with strong knees. It makes it so much easier for her to grip my waist when we're playing buckin' and fuckin' bronco! Yeehaw, partner!"

So, maybe she could parse an actual answer out of that bit of crudeness.

Which was hilarious, but also irritated her for like, no reason. He kept doing that. Stupid lack of answers to anything.

For a second, Nathan actually let some real, conflicted emotion show there. He frowned and then pursed his lips before letting it all wash away into a look of nonchalance.

"That what you want?" Nathan asked blankly.

"I thought it was what you wanted," she said, keeping her eyes on him. She'd caught that transition, yeah, and she wasn't entirely sure what to make of it.

"I only regret it because you didn't care," she snapped. "No, seriously, do you know how fucking hard it is for me to talk to anyone about anything that matters? Especially admitting something like that? And you clearly could've given a shit, so whatever. Fine. We can be friends, I don't care, but I have too much pride to sleep with a guy after being rejected."

And Jesus Christ, at this rate she was going to end up crying at the picnic for the new kids, so she turned to go. Because wow that needed to not happen.
