fandomhigh | Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

With all the rain the island had seen during the week, everyone had been hoping for a sudden turn to nice weather for the welcome picnic. But as the crew from the school started to set up for the picnic, the sky got darker and darker, and by the time everything was ready, it had started to steadily rain. As tempting as it was to move everything inside, there just wasn't anywhere in the school for so many people to gather at once, and since it was still comfortably warm outside, extra measures were taken to ensure that the picnic could go on as scheduled. Tents were set up to cover the information tables, the food, and most of the tables and chairs, and umbrellas had been gathered, ready for use by anyone who wanted more personal protection against the weather. It didn't look like the rain would be letting up any time soon.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Deadpool paused. "Monologue? What medium are we in?"

IF THERE WAS ANOTHER SELF AWARE CHARACTER... SO HELP HIM.

Alistair paused. "I... don't... know..." he said. "Is this a trick question?"

"Yes. yes it is."

"I... see," Alistair said.

And squinted some more.

Yes, Alistair. Let's start a staring contest with the insane vice-principal in the suit.

It was a good idea!

"Newbie."

"Mad suit man."

"Crazy Renaissance Faire reinactor."

Alistair had no idea what that was, but it was on, so he wasn't going to ask questions.

"Rambling procurer of strange fabrics."

Oooo! That was all fancy!

"D&D nerd who lives in his mama's basement."

"Oh, now you're just making up words," Alistair said, just to prove he could be not fancy, sometimes. "And also wrong."

"It's not my fault you don't follow pop culture!"

"What is pop culture?" Alistair asked, sensibly. "Is it something you can eat?"

"Only with your mind," Deadpool replied. "It's all very metaphysical."

"Riiiiight," Alistair said. "Are you sure this isn't the Chantry? Because I know some of the clerics like to go around speaking in riddles because they think it makes them look enlightened, and trust me, it doesn't actually work."

"No, I've been reliably informed I'm just insane," Deadpool said with all the kindness in his heart. "You want weird, round about and way too preachy... talk to the mayor."

A beat.

"He'll be the large guy with the ginger child running around him."

"Right," Alistair repeated. "So, 'avoid the mayor', 'pop culture isn't edible' and 'it doesn't matter how you dress around here', that's the lessons I'm taking from this. Am I getting anywhere close?"

"Also: You're a nerd."

"I am not a whatever that is," Alistair said, decisively.

Just wait until the first time he saw an action figure.

"Are too."

"I most certainly am not," he said. "Who are you anyway?"

"Your new boss," Deadpool replied cheerfully. "Vice Principal Deadpool.'

"...I'm going to be in a lot of trouble if I say 'really?' now, aren't I."

"What kind of tone do you plan on saying it in?"

"Mildly incredulous, but impressed, with just a dash of charm?"

Deadpool hummed, thinking it over. "You may proceed then."
