When the students got to the Danger Shop today, they'd see a table set up with pizza and snacks, mostly because Hermione thought it was a good example of today's class rather than her just deciding to be nice. "This is our last class for the session, and I want to take a moment to say that I've enjoyed having all of you here," she began with a little smile. "Over the past six weeks we've covered how to support your friends in what they have to do, whether it's being the one to do the legwork or be the voice of reason. There then comes a point when you have to actually do whatever it is they're called to do, and at that point your objective is to really just get through it. And then once it's over, there's really nothing left to do besides either celebrate, or pick up the pieces, or both. I hope you win every time, but sometimes things don't go so well. Maybe you lose someone, and then the support you give involves knowing when to be sympathetic, or when to be available with ready hugs." Not that Hermione knew anything about that, nope.

"Since that is probably a whole other class topic, we're going to focus on the more positive one today. Since you've made it through class, we're going to celebrate with a pizza party," she said, gesturing to the table. "Help yourself, maybe share some of your class-related experiences with others, and be glad I didn't decide to have you practice hugging." Somehow she hadn't thought that appropriate.

This is the one and only time Hermione's ever going to decide a pizza party is okay for class, so enjoy it. Mingle, mod your food and drinks, yadda yadda.

Percy had come in expecting some kind of practical exam and found pizza. He was just going to consider pizza the exam and if his mom asked, he'd tell her there was some kind of test to go along with it so she didn't think he'd skipped class to go to a pizza joint.

He picked up a few slices and wandered around while he ate.

Yeah Luke would just over here, eating as much pizza as he could manage without throwing up.

Chuck would be over here, wolfing down pizza.

... And possibly seeing if he could stealthily wrap some up in napkins to eat later. So it wouldn't go to waste or anything. Obviously.

Who is not going to know how to handle a whole week off of classes.

Wesley could appreciate the level of sacrifice it must have taken for Hermione to decide that a pizza party was the thing to do today. This was perfectly good class time right here.

With that in mind, he walked over to her, smiling a bit.

"I just wanted to say," he began, "this class was one of the more useful ones I've taken at Fandom thus far."

This from a guy who liked school, so.

Coming from one of the kids Hermione sort of thought was like her when it came to the school thing, that was about the best compliment ever. "I'm so glad to hear that," she said, beaming. "I really hope it's something that does help you in the future."

Which, given the class, was a little weird to say. But, given Fandom, it wasn't really that weird.

Oh, it wasn't that weird. If she had taught, say, Childcare for Idiots, or the Sex and Hooking Up class, then it would be weird. It was all about perspective.

"I'm certain it'll come up," Wesley promised. "I seem to know rather a lot of the, ah, hero types."

Including his girlfriend, the person he'd last worked for, the person he was thinking about maybe working for, and quite a few of his friends. Sigh.

"I've learned that tends to happen here," she said with a nod. "We seem to attract them."

That was certainly true. Whereas the Watchers' Academy had been all about the sidekicks, Fandom had a disproportionate number of heroes. It was interesting.

"Well," Wesley said, "if I ever have a question about the course material, or a, ah, hero management crisis, would it be all right if I came to you?"

"Always," she said immediately. "I'll still be around next session, so if there's anything you need to ask, I'll definitely be available."

"Excellent," said Wesley, swinging his arms a bit.

"Ah -- thank you for, ah, teaching this class," he said. Oh, the awkwardness.

Make the headache go away.
