Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was nice, the school wasn't currently under attack from forces not of this universe and they were still in Iceland. Oh yeah, it was day one of the rest of the newbies' lives.

Welcome to fandom, kiddos. Try not to trip over left over sombreros from Thursday!

[Please wait for OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"Ah, you already have friends here!" Alexander smiled. "Then perhaps my help will not be needed as much. May I ask who?"

"Squall and Rinoa. Grew up with him, and she's my ex-girlfriend." Who is now dating the guy he grew up with.

So much fun.

"Ah!" said Alexander, pleased to hear the names of two people he rather enjoyed sparring and speaking with, respectively. But then he worked through the other part. "Ah. Really?"

That had to be...awkward.

That was going to be fun, but Seifer wasn't going to tell anyone that. "Yeah. I think it should be fine though. We haven't tried to kill each other in weeks."

"That sounds like progress!" Alexander said, assuming Seifer was joking.

He really hoped Seifer was joking.

"So, what have you heard about the place? I didn't know much; I just know my mother sent me in hopes that I might learn something in a proper setting. And I certain have learned much, I'm proud to say."

"Not much. Just that people came here from different worlds to go to school."

Everything else had been left out. Informative couple, Squall and Rinoa.

"And that's...not a bad summation," Alexander allowed. "That certainly is the crux of it. There is...quite a bit more. Things can sometimes get a little...strange here. Sometimes dangerous, mostly kooky, and I'd best avoid gremlins if I were you. Which is not too difficult. I've yet to encounter one myself."

Which, of course, was asking for it.

"Gremlins. What are gremlins?" Because, he'd never heard of them, let alone seen them.

"Small little creatures, almost draconian in appearance, that move quite quickly and will bite you," Alexander explained. "Their venom is said to alter one's state of mind, and convince you quite fully that you are entirely someone else."

He shook his head. "Also our school's mascot, which is an interesting choice, if you think about it."

Seifer was getting ideas. Very bad ideas. Involving traps and people who pissed him off.

Too bad there weren't any telepaths to tell him how badly that idea always turns out.

"Oh yeah. Very interesting. Anything else interesting about this place?"

"Well," said Alexander, "a few weeks ago, we were in one place, just off the coast of Maryland, and, after an attack of vikings on the graduation ceremony, we appear to have traveled not only to a different geographical location of this world, but also a different time period entirely."
