The weather was nice, the school wasn't currently under attack from forces not of this universe and they were still in Iceland. Oh yeah, it was day one of the rest of the newbies' lives.

Kate was used to shared housing, and from that statement alone she'd already decided this guy came under 'obnoxious'. Wonderful.

"Ekaterina, I presume?" Damian looked her over. "What kind of combat abilities do you have?"

Ekaterina. Ugh. "Kate," she corrected. "I prefer swords." She didn't have hers on her right now, but she did have one.

It was implied that she knew how to use it. Running around with a sword when you didn't know how to use it only guaranteed that someone would turn it on you and rip your guts out.
