Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was nice, the school wasn't currently under attack from forces not of this universe and they were still in Iceland. Oh yeah, it was day one of the rest of the newbies' lives.

Welcome to fandom, kiddos. Try not to trip over left over sombreros from Thursday!

[Please wait for OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Having so many familiar faces around had put Zoe in a rather cheerful mood, and it only improved once she'd managed to find Hermione. "Good afternoon, Ms. Granger. It's good to see you again."

"Principal Wa- Winchester," she greeted her with a smile once she remembered which name to use. "It's good to be here again. Even if it seems a bit... different?"

"We're in a bit of a...location shift at the moment. Graduation was interesting, as always," she said. "You've been doing well, I assume?"

Well, she was doing better now. There'd been an iffy year back there but she was over it. "I have," she answered. "Though I admit this is a bit daunting. I've never taught before. Not outside of helping people with their homework and insisting that no, I won't do it for them."

"Everyone was a first-time teacher at one point, and helping people with homework isn't a bad place to start," Zoe pointed out. "Remember, you have the advantage of having taken classes here. I'm sure you took some from...less than conventional teachers. You'd have to work pretty hard to be the worst we've ever had."

"That is reassuring," Hermione admitted. "Though personally I think I'll strive for much better than 'not the worst.'"

"That doesn't surprise me at all," Zoe said. "If you need help with anything, you'd better let me know. Unless it's help getting us back where we're supposed to be, because I'm running kind of dry on that plan."

"Can I ask what happened?" she asked. "Not that I know a spell to fix it off the top of my head." She should not be embarrassed to admit that, and yet.

"We got attacked at graduation by Vikings," Zoe explained. "They weren't very good at fighting though, so they were taken out rather easily, but it seems that when they tried to get home, they took us with them. So, Iceland. The locals have been friendly ever since, but I would still like to get us back to America and the 21st century. Preferably both." She could dream, couldn't she?

"Vikings. Real Vikings?" And now Hermione had reason to try and learn everything about them because she could. If she could work through the language barrier. But first she was going to focus on being productive. "I mean... I'm sure this isn't permanent. Maybe just reversing whatever method got us here in the first place?"

"That's the plan, once we figure out what that method was. I'm not worried yet though, because we haven't nearly exhausted everything," Zoe said. "It'd be different if they were hostile, but the people seem quite happy to share their space and their alcohol, so our situation could be a lot worse." Someone had learned to take things in stride over these many years.
