Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was nice, the school wasn't currently under attack from forces not of this universe and they were still in Iceland. Oh yeah, it was day one of the rest of the newbies' lives.

Welcome to fandom, kiddos. Try not to trip over left over sombreros from Thursday!

[Please wait for OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Jocelyn frowned at the list of room assignments. The guy with the Canadian money had been nice enough - for a mundane - but he'd been such a mundane. Also, in case someone hadn't noticed, a guy.

Was she truly supposed to spend a year rooming with a boy? She missed Amatis already.

Marshall looked for Jocelyn through the crowd, finally spotting her and coming over.

"Not that you're not a perfectly nice roommate, I'm sure," he said, with no preamble, "but this has got to be some kind of mistake, right?"

"I'm a terrible roommate," Jocelyn replied instantly. "Clothes all over everywhere, and I never sleep at night." ...okay, she was mostly teasing, and her amused eyes probably gave that away. "But yeah, I'm hoping it is one too. Rooming with a boy isn't exactly...polite."

"I'm just picturing what the principal at my last school would have done if we'd tried to. Or not reported it."

It would have involved lots of 'MR. Wheeler!' At loud volumes. And a tirade on how such things just weren't done.

"So, I guess... Do we ask our big siblings about it? This is kinda what they're here for, right?"

"My big sibling has wings," Jocelyn commented. "And told me about maple syrup rain. I'm not so totally sure he'd see a problem. A teacher maybe? Or the headmistress."

Marshall blinked. "Wings?" He frowned, looking around. "And here I thought my last school was weird."

Note that he wasn't commenting on the maple syrup rain.

"But yeah, a teacher would probably help, right?" He hoped.
