Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was nice, the school wasn't currently under attack from forces not of this universe and they were still in Iceland. Oh yeah, it was day one of the rest of the newbies' lives.

Welcome to fandom, kiddos. Try not to trip over left over sombreros from Thursday!

George wasn't sure this whole roommate thing was a good idea. She generally hated people, but she and Jono had gotten along fine, after all.

Okay, and she kind of missed Jono. It was weird, having friends.

'Seifer' sounded like a guy's name. Which meant she was going to glance around for a guy, wondering if he was going to be hot. Look, if she had to have a guy roommate, hot would be a nice perk.

She would be right about the guy thing. And Seifer was not at all shocked about rooming with a chick.

It kinda made you wonder about Garden.

And he was going to ask around to see who this roommate of his was. "Hey. You know a George?"

Oh. Hell-o there.

"I'm a George," she said, helpfully. "There's ... another one, but he's a guy."

George's ability to make sense decreased sharply around hot guys.

"Are you Seifer?"

"The one and only." And there were people being thankful for that every day.

"So, do I have to worry about nudity or any wild and crazy things while having you for a roommate?"

He was really hoping she said yes.

"... I'm not really ... so into wild and crazy?" George said, feeling like she was letting him down with that. "Why, are you ... going to be hanging out naked?"

Because that was completely fine by her. Really.

"There is that possibility, yes." He wasn't going to LIE, dammit. "As long as it won't upset your boyfriend."

He paused, then grinned. "Or girlfriend. If you have a girlfriend, can I watch you guys make-out, or will I have to leave the room?"

She raised an eyebrow. "So you just ... have no shame at all, is that it?"

She wasn't quite judging, here. More amused.

"I don't have a boyfriend. Or girlfriend. I'm kind of ... not good with people."

Anti-social, mostly.

"Shame is for people who regret having fun." Or, are really, really repressed. "I'm totally for living every day like it's my last."

"Something I really should have looked into," George grumbled. Well, maybe it was never too late, or whatever. "Do we need any kind of ... I dunno. Room rules? Are you gonna get upset if I play the drums?"

Because she had a drum kit, and it happened to rule.

"Room rules are good, and only if I'm sleeping. Sock on the door good, or will we need to post notes or something?" Because he was totally cool with that. He didn't want to piss off the chick who had complete access to all his stuff.

"Music. Please tell me you're not into sugary pop shit that is constantly auto-tuned."

"Sock on the door is fine," she said, "not that I ... really ... date a whole lot."

Or ever. But she'd sexiled Jono once. It might happen again.

And now, George was going to look at Seifer with only the rage that a child of grunge could.

"I'm from Seattle," she said, as though that was an answer to that. "Do I look like I'm into sugary auto-tuned bullshit?"

Had he not noticed the flannel? Really.

"...where's Seattle?" Because, he wasn't from this world. "And what does it have to do with music?"

"... Okay, yeah, you're ... not from here," George said. She was extrapolating, here. "Seattle is famous for music. Good music. Lots of guitars and anarchy and telling people to go fuck themselves."

"Sounds like my kind of place. I may have to take the time to visit at some point."

Or, you know, just move there after school.
