Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was nice, the school wasn't currently under attack from forces not of this universe and they were still in Iceland. Oh yeah, it was day one of the rest of the newbies' lives.

Welcome to fandom, kiddos. Try not to trip over left over sombreros from Thursday!

Call it a mild observation. Call it a moment of sympathy. Call it an extension of zen. Call it whatever you'd like, but Shunsui had made a note of this fellow and had to comment, "You look like you could use a drink ♥."

Of course, it was more than a mere comment. When it came to booze, Shunsui always delivered, and there was a small cup of a sake being extended over.

"Um... Sure," Columbus said with a trace of hesitation in his voice. "What is it?"

Pleased to not meet objection, Shunsui smoothly handed the cup over before producing yet another one from somewhere in the folds of his cloak for himself. "Ahhhhh ♥," he sighed happily, breathing in the wonderful scent. "Sake ♥! Nectar of the gods ♥. Am I correct in assuming you are one among our new faculty members ♥?"

And while Shunsui was nursing the aroma of his own sake, Columbus was deftly pouring out the drink and then instantly pretending he had just finished it himself.

"Um, yes, thank you," Columbus said as he handed back the empty glass. "I guess I'm teaching. I'm on the curriculum but I didn't know I was going to be here. Does that make any sense?"

"Perfect sense ♥!" Shunsui said with a laugh, lifting his cup in a salute to the nonsensicality of this island. "As a matter of fact, it happens all the time ♥. Funny, this place, and how some seem to know they're coming here and others, it just brings to us ♥. Welcome to the faculty then; I am Shunsui Kyōraku ♥. I'll be teaching creative writing ♥."

"Columbus Ohio," he answered with a nod. "I'll be teaching students how to survive in a zombie apocalypse."

Columbus blinked at that. "Oh. Well, sorry. Yeah. I'm a guy. Though I have no idea what a teaching buddy is."

Shunsui shrugged, with a slight sigh, as if Columbus couldn't really help his maleness. "It's a buddy," he offered by way of explanation, "for teaching ♥. Mine was a beautiful woman; ahh, Jaina-chan ♥. I shall miss her constant ability to deny the great throbbing feelings she had for me ♥."
